Please forgive me if someone else has alreday had and posted this idea (I've been working on BE for a while and haven't been keeping up).Someone on the Lowca galaxy board mentioned that when the game first started the sand storms on Tatooine caused physical damage if you were caught out in them. It occurred to me that all the planets could be given occasional severe weather of one kind or another. This weatherwould do damage to people caught in it. Camps could be given some funtional use by protecting you against this weather when players are out in the wild (in the cities they could just step in doors). The number of people each camp would protect would be based on its size. Players would receive factional warnings of impending dangerous storms. Something like:


Neutral - The <planet name> planetary weather service predicts adangerous storm for this area. All Citizens are encouraged to seek shelter within then next <countdown time here> minutes.


Rebel - Our forward outposts have reported that a dangerous storm is moving in this area and should arrive in <countdown timer here> minutes. All resistance units should take cover immediately.


Imperial - Imperial satelite sensors have detected a major storm approaching this area. All Imperial units are ordered to seek shelter and secure their equipment within <countdown timer here> minutes. No time should be wasted assisting indiginous civilians.

This is something I totally want to see happen.

Thanks. I thought that if the developers had damange from storms programed in when the game first started it might be easy to implement and would add some survival to the scout's survival tree. You could actually see a group of hunters making sure they had a scout before they left town.

I have to say that I *really* like this idea. However, I have to say that I can forsee a downside to it, and one people would certainly complain about. While these storms are going on, you're basically "stuck" in camp -- unless you want to take the damage. Which might cause the devs to make the damage minimal to not get in the way of people wanting to play, and thus, making the implementation of it pointless.

Now, like I said, I *really* like this idea -- but this seems like something we should come up with a resolution to, before the idea is presented to the devs.

Make planet specific storm gear? I.E. A sandstorm-proof jacket which is crafted with Tatooine Leathery Hide by a tailor?


The scout gets a cut of the deal by being the one to harvest, the tailors get some renewable business (the gear would wear out) and the "cheap" way to do it would always be to keep a scout on hand in order to throw up a camp.



Give me a shadowed forest into which I might disappear.

Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.

I used to pop up a camp when I would get caught in sandstorms in tat.
Silly me I though they would actually do damage to me (which is logical) and the camp would offer some shelter.

I am all for this!!!

As a MCH who is thinking of finishing my scout mastery then maybe even becoming a ranger I would very much

like to see camps actualy mean something again.
