Thread: use of traps besides for trappin exp?

Well, it all depends - mainly on what you're hunting.


Traps are very useful as your getting up in the ranks and haven't mastered a combat profession OR you've mastered something like pistoleer that doesn't hit extremely hard (sorry guys).


But if you're a meleeror a rifleman who can mow down critters without really thinking about it, traps are less than useful.


I think that once we see how the combat revamp shapes up, our traps will become much more valuable for the higher end players.

Traps are very useful for pistoleers - not because we don't hit hard - we do - but that our best shots give us away to the target and it likes to charge us. A pdart slows the creature down while I take it out.


Traps are useful for groups. Here comes 5 rancors charging because Joe Moron shot a lair. Nail all 5 real quick with pdarts and glow wire, you can count on rancor harvest. Gives slow people a chance to get outta the way, gives fast people a chance to hit them more without being hit. Glow wire drops resistance to ranged and melee, making the creature easier to hit.


Traps are useful for soloing, when you make a boo boo and now have a lot on aggro on ya. Same deal, slow them and beat feet. Only dumb BHs try to stand in one spot and spam specials - why they visit the cloner early and often.


There's 3 uses and a ding on BHs, not bad for 3 short paragraphs.

nice replys(joe moron lol), helps clarify things still got master swordsman on the backburner and new to the ranged proff.s (was a bladesmaster with tkm/pike defences..medit) so as myt character continues to lose his defences on the path of bh i see these traps will bcome useful thnx again.

Well I'm master ranger, and sadly primarily use 2 scout traps nearly all the time, an an occosianal 3rd one. The Phecnacine dart is the bomb is you're a ranged fighter. It allows you to kite, and control the masses with creature fighting. You can use P. darts to slow one down, if you have suppresion fire use it, apply a dot, move to next target, P. Dart, etc. I also use the glow wire for the small amount of accuracy it might add. with good tactics and skill, I can take out several large cretures level 70 or less if I'm using traps wisely.


For my emergency get the heck out of there, the adhesive mess is good. That's about all its good for, since it doesn't last long, and they only craft in twos. So I keep a couple handy for that purpose.
