Thread: I still suck.

Alright...

So it's been about two weeks into this game for me. Can't stay away from it, can't get enough of it. In fact, I'm late for work as I am typing this.

I just had a quick question, and that is. Why do I still suck?

I have mastered Scout and Marksman, but need about 35,000 moreXP in combat experience to be a novice bounty hunter. I have some good weapons.

And my biggest beaf if the money. When I got to a mission terminal I pick out two of the highest paying missions which are usually around 400-500 credits, big deal. And those missions usually take about five minutes to complete. Bang Bang Bang Gimme my money.

I tried some explorer missions too. But in the time it takes me to find and kill 45 mutant swamp rats, I could complete fifteen of those 500 credit missions. Rrrrrrrr

And one last thing. Whats the deal with Recon missions? How come when I get about 700 meters from the objective it says "Miission Imcomplete".

Any answers to those and I would be happy and calm.

Thanks.

its been a while since i did this but ill try to help

missions- always go with ur best wepon eqiped to get better missions(i know this is obvious but people forget)

also grouping with others will help you get better missions( also harder)

40k combat xp- if you think this is hard wait till you get novice bh then the fun starts

getting buffed will help iknow if your only gettting 500 a mission this will be hard but try finding a nice doctor(there are some)

savage qenkers on dant give 3000xp = 300 combat xp missions are 6.8/6.9 credits each

tortons on rori give the same xp but are also ramdom spawns(missions 5.5)

+anything that moves gives xp kil it

btw just use ur carbine and pistol for killing if poss then you will have enough xp in carbines and pistols to learn the first box in each

i struggled myself 40k combat xp semmed like a eternaty at the time

Alright thanks for the information. I probably sound like most newbs who thought it would be easier. Oh well back to the battleground.

This is part of it. Until you're a Master BH or further up the tree, you just don't have the skills to hit very hard. (And some would argue as a Master BH you still don't.) You won't be kicking massive butts until you are closer to mastering an elite combat profession. Master Marksman is a grind, but remember - it's still just a novice profession.

And my biggest beaf if the money. When I got to a mission terminal I pick out two of the highest paying missions which are usually around 400-500 credits, big deal. And those missions usually take about five minutes to complete. Bang Bang Bang Gimme my money.

This is because you're not tough enough yet. Equip your heaviest hitting weapon - even if you're not certified for it. Getting into a group always helps - but make sure that if you're soloing and (solo-grouping) that you've got buffs, or those missions will be too tough for you.

If you're an Imp, get an AT-ST. It'll take a while, but it's a good way of grinding FP and XP as well, and once you get one, you can start getting the 37k missions on Dath and the 26k missions on Dant.

I tried some explorer missions too. But in the time it takes me to find and kill 45 mutant swamp rats, I could complete fifteen of those 500 credit missions. Rrrrrrrr

Those missions aren't designed to make you money. They're designed to give you an incentive to go exploring. The idea is you want to go wandering, you take an explore mission, and kill while you're out there. Don't ever take these if you are trying to make money fast.

And one last thing. Whats the deal with Recon missions? How come when I get about 700 meters from the objective it says "Miission Imcomplete".

This is a bug, but it doens't happen constantly.I know, because I was making a lot of dough off of them when I started a new character.

Any answers to those and I would be happy and calm.

For more answers - read my guide at the top of the forum. Most of your questions were answered in there.

Thanks.

Very good information guys. I appreciate not being hammered as a newb.

Today was a good night for me. I formed a group of four of my regular friends. We slammed out a few 4 thousand dollar misssions (a lot of money for newbs).

We met an apprentice weaponsmith on the top of a hill on our way back to Anchorhead and he was nice enough to give an FWG5 pistol and a really nice carbine.

I am definatly looking around the vendors for level IV rifles. I am ancious to try them out. I had a level III rifle that I could slam -2700 with. Can't imagine how level IV's will be.

Thanks again guys.

If you're going for Bounty Hunter and you've already mastered Marksmen and Scout stay away from using rifles. You're done with them (unless you are going for some Master Rifleman/BH 3400 template). For your 40K of combat XP you'll want to get 20K of it using pistols and 20K of it using carbines. For carbines you'll want to stick pretty exclusive to your laser carbine. A DXR6 is good if you run into mobs with acid vulnerabilities. For pistols you'll either want to use your FWG5 or Scout Blaster. FWG5 does heat and SB does energy. Pick the right weapon for the job.

If you split up your remaining combat XP like this when you train in Novice BH you'll also be able to train BH Pistols I and BH Carbine I. In BH carbine I you'll get a knock down attack called Underhand shot. If you throw on a dizzy with full auto single 1 and then KD them UH most NPC mobs will fall back down into a knock down state when they try to stand up.

While some BHs will try and tell you that BHs don't do much damage don't buy into it. BH is a profession where you really need to know your weapons and the game to succeed. Its not like TKA where you can walk up to a lair of huurton huntresses, hit unarmed KD and spam unarmed hit 2. You have to use states, knock downs, posture changes and bleeds to get the job done. The name of the game as a BH is to not let your target get close to you. Because BHs have almost no defense. As a BH you get +7 ranged defense over whatever you get at Master Marksmen/Master Scout.

Thanks Rohz.

About that laser rifle. I started falling in love with it. I was getting at 50-60 like it recommended. Taking cover, and taking out bantha's by myself for the first time.

However, one of my friends is an artisan and wanted a gun to practice is new skill he learned last night that allowed him to fix weapons. Sadly, my laser rifle is in pieces and I can't find anyone to repair it.

Eq,

You like that laser, wait til you get a good T-21. Gotta be a novice rifleman though.

Chances are there are a few more laser rifles on your server, its a fairly popular weapon.

You may want to try to dabble in Rifleman for a bit to see if its more your thing. Don't be in such a rush to Master BH right now. Try some other things out to get a feel for other things you may like better. I took a little detour in Ranger and CH back in my pre-Novice BH days. I'll always look back fondly on the days I spent /areatrack-ing the plains of Talus for Greater Sludge Panther babies (these were pre-vehicle and pre-mount days).

You're still learning how the game works, take some time to learn how the other professions work as well.

Rifles work really nice right now. You'll have a great time mowing down a pack of rancors with flushing shot 2 and your T-21. Give rifleman a try. We still got a few months until the combat balance and even more months until the smuggler/contraband revamp (non-Jedi player bounties). Time is your alley right now.
