Thread: Suggestion for Camps
I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not, but it is related to Scouts.
How about allowing anyone to place a basic camp? Not craft one, but place one. And not the larger camps, just the basic one. That would give scouts a market for one of the few things that they craft and give people a way to travel in their vehicles to mission points then drop a camp to pull any pets (especially important for faction pets).
So some discussion?
This has been mentioned here many, many times, and every single time it's shot down by the Scout community, and for good reason. Camps are one of the things that make Scouts necessary companions in groups...without them, there's really not a necessary reason to team up with a Scout. Sure, knowing the CL of creatures is nice and all...but it's just a bonus.
You want to place a camp, you get to use 15 SP on novice scout. That's fair.
I wanna use stims, I need to use 15 SP on medic. I did, I don't begrudge it, I live with it.
Seeing as how a basic camp is not worth squat on the open market, and would sell for maybe 25 creds (only because it costs 20 creds to put it on the bazaar).... nah, selling them would not be a money maker.
So now... you want to rent my services to set up camps for ya?? Hmm.... this could be a money maker, and makes scouts somewhat more valuable, now doesn't it ??
Campsare one of the last bastions of the Scout/Ranger community. They gave TN to freaking Combat Medics for some unknown reason (I can put bandaids on people under fire, I should have terrain negotitation...**edit** kinda logic is that??) The BH mo-rons want areatrack, like it would stop them from getting lost and having to use droids to find their own behinds. Everyone is always wanting stuff that is not theirs, which is too freaking bad for them. You pick a profession and you work within the confines of that profession.
I for one will pitch a fine fit should the Devs try and give camps away.
So anyhow, I think I made my position clear.

remember, make me mad, I harvestyour grid square (and being a Master Gunfighter makes it way easier too, love my new DM)
Chew,
I'd argue this more, but Holy and JB have summed up my arguments fairly succinctly.

Would you feel the same way if you had to be a bio-engineer to use Pet Stims? I see this as the same logic.
Requiring vehicles to be stored and not givig an easy way to retrieve them is a problem.
And I do not have this problem as I am a scout (Master even).
Chew,
The problem is that it's a slippery slope - you start handing out basic functions from one profession, and soon everyone is going to want every profession. Why can't I use a wound pack without medic? Why can't I use a weapons crafting station without artisan?
Etc.
Players can use camps, public houses, PAs, cities, and player cities to call their vehicles. If you take camps out, that's still a lot of places they can use. It's not worth it to us togive up one of our only remaining unique abilities to everyone.
