Thread: Bothan Maskscent Mod?

This doesn't really matter that much to me personally anymore, since as a Master Ranger I'm much more likely to use camo than /maskscent, but I think it still deserves to be considered.


Are Bothans ever going to get their Scout modifier fixed? Originally "Camoflage" was the name for the Maskscent mod, but now it's for /conceal, which is used only in an elite profession (Ranger). Wouldn't it be nice if we had a /maskscent modifier as well? I mean, that was the original intent of it. I know this was brought up a while back, but it still hasn't been addressed (I don't think...) and I don't think it's really a complicated thing to change. It's not like it'sgoing to unbalance the game.

Yes please do find out, and along with the camo mod. Bothans have a mod for both, and I want to know if they both add.


I posted this for Ranger about my conceal, so I'll post it here for Scount for my mask scent. I'm a Bothan Master ranger. I also have clothes with BE bonuses +14 to both camo and mask scent, with 2 peaces that have that. So my mask scent is up to +123. If, according to NRaas, mask scent is 95% effective, I'm going to assume that's at +100 mask scent. If that's so, what is my effectivness at my +123? Is it more effective because of that?


Any insight on that DeltaX?

Ok...


Let's try a couple of examples then (these are fictitious values, simply to prove the effect):


Scenario A:



  • A Scout with +100 MaskScent

  • A creature of CL 25

Result:



  • Success Rate of 95%

Scenario B:



  • A Scout with +123 MaskScent

  • A creature of CL 25

Result:



  • Success Rate of 95%

  • Even though the MaskScent is +123, the success rate caps out at 95%

Scenario C:



  • A Scout with +100 MaskScent

  • A creature of CL 35

Result:



  • Success Rate of 90%

  • The higher creature level has reduced the success rate compared to the CL 25 scenario

Scenario D:



  • A Scout with +123 MaskScent

  • A creature of CL 35

Result:



  • Success Rate of 95%

  • The higher MaskScent has increased the Success rate back up to 95% for the tougher creature

Again, note these are fictitious values, I don't know what the baseline Creature Level actually is...



  • It could be CL 25, but the developerevaded the question when I asked it.

Thanks Delta. I appreciate it. Just wanted to mention it again because it's taking them an awful long time. Oh well, they'll probably change it soon. I WOULD like to hang on to the camo mod though...
