Thread: My Bio-Engineer friend's maskscent keeps breaking does the CL of the beasts affect it?
She's trying to get close enough to sample some high level Rancors, but her maskscent keeps breaking. She's got Exploration IV, which is +70 to Maskscent.
How does the target creature's level determine success or failure? Any hints? She's getting kinda frustrated

Not that I know of...
- There must be a baseline CL (the maximumlevel which still grants the maximum success for +100MaskScent).

No. The BE clothes help out. But here's the catch - the absolute highest success rate you'll get is 95%.
So for a lower level creature, the difference between +115 and +100 is nothing. You'll still only have 95% success rate.
It's on those higher level creatures, where, say, you'd only have a 75% success rate with a +100 mask scent mod that they'll help. Someone with +115 would have, say, an 80% success rate in that scenario.

My friend got some clothes that added another +45, so she's now at +115. Are those last +15 wasted?
