Please, no flames.

As as test center scout, I recently got into fishing. I love it. I've only been fishing about an hour and a half and I've already caught about 20 or so fish. Amazing success I suppose. Although, I've only reeled in about three.

My problem, is when it says "Caught Something?!", that no matter what the heck I press, no matter what directional button I key, or how I try to move my mouse, Lord Idiot goes kareening off in the direction of the fish. And past it. By about 100 yards. And he doesn't stop running until I randomly press about fifty buttons while steering him into a house or something to make him sit still. Needless to say, I lose the majority of my catch. Do I have a quick key on? Anyone else get this? Am I really *that* stupid?

Please, any answers at all would help.

I've had this happen to me, but not while fishing. I have found that it has something to do with autorun and the num lock key. If I make sure that num lock is on, then the problem doesn't happen to me. So, as you alternate the num lock setting with autorun, you might want to make sure that it is on before fishing. Maybe that will help, it is worth a try.

Xpoch,

This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I would have to say to rebind your autorun key and see if that has anything to do with it.

I would also /bug it, but since you're on TC, I'm sure you've already done that.

There is definitely some type of bug where a player goes into bugged autorun.

I think it has to do with an interface window being up and the player making some combination of right click running and arrow keys.

Thankfully, I haven't had it happen in several weeks at least, but when I used to get it a lot, it was while working on harvs and at the ticket collect. I missed at least one shuttle due to it...before I found the beloved /bo trans command!

edit for spelling and to add that I found hammering the escape buttom and the right click a few times was quickest way to get out of this forced run...but that might not be so good for fishin...

I've had this happen to me as well -- it used to happen with more dialogs as well, but they seem to have fixed it with all but the fishing dialog.

Basically if you hit a movement key at just the right moment, you will go into autowalk mode until you close that dialog and (I think) press the same movement key again. Like I said above, this used to happen with a lot more dialogs, but it seems to only happen with the fishing dialog now.

Ive gone into a bugged autorun before...I just usually hit one of the directional arrow keys and I stop running.

usually the autorun kicks in for me if i am already moving when some gui change kicks in... for example: running toward the ticket collector and bringing up the radial menu, everytime this happens i run right on by the droid...

i think maybe in this situation, you are beginning to move before the /fishing gui has updated with the "caught something: choose next action"window... i suggest you wait a second or two before moving toward your catch: let the guifinish updating, and then move toward the fish... i could be wrong, and this may have nothing to do with it... but hopefully it'll help...

been a while since i fished, so i may have the timing wrong... might need to wait a few seconds after you select "reel in," if you do that...
