Thread: masters we lost our touch
Heh, don't think I would have ever said for some newb to wait until they got 1k before selling. When I was newb, with nothing but scout and marksman(before armor and buffs, and stims) I was excited to get a stack of 200-400 of the SAME resource type. I would sell most of it on the bazaar, and keep a little for me to craft camps and traps with.
If the person is an actual newb to the game, and doesn't know anyone already playing it will be very slow. Most people that start now, seem to be friends of vets. So they are given money and tips on game play. That money goes to equipment, and most of all buffs. Buffs can allow you to go up against much higher level then normal, and do it for a long long time with out needing to stop and heal up, or stim during combat.
I pretty much only use buffs for pvp, or if we are going to a specific dungeon. I don't use buffs for normal hunting. Oh natural baby. The only way to hunt.

Sorry I was gone for so long. I was really sick this week, combined with a bit of a required vacation for a mean post of mine on another board...
Anyway, being a Novice Scout is tough, but it is not nearly as tough as it was for those of us who were the first masters. We had no one to teach us the ropes, no one to ask questions to about the game, and no one who could help us out with a power group or some good weapons.
Novice Scouts have it tough, but its much, much easier on them than it was on us back in the day.

I've got to agree with this. The wilderness line was a pain, all camping, and people would ninja camp for the wilderness XP!, Remember when only ONE scout got a chance to harvest when you were in a group? Remember ninja harvesting?

hakai, you just gave me an example about what i'm talking about. "they can craft for xp now" alot of newbs dont have the resources to grind and have to camp, and hakai watch the crying about crap, just cause your 2nd in command when deltas gone doesnt mean i still cant beat you. all i am trying to say is that we need to look at the ideas and suggestions we are giving these newbs. for example i just found a way to ge camp xp easy. and any newb can do this, go get killed and when you have all those wounds, go out camp leve each one up for about 5-10 min til the wounds are gone and boom like 4000 xp whereas you would only get 400 for grinding. all i'm saying is that we need to expand our way of teaching ya know, and yes i know the 1k stack thng was off but it was an example. o and by the way talusian bristley hide has an OQ of 950 right now and carn meat on talus has OQ of 852.
whoa? im second in command? when did THAT happen?!!! lol
yeah i see you point. The advice i would give them is the same as i would give to any other new guild member who has just started the game.
Get medic, a novice combat prof, and novice scout. Find a good city to run from, take a few missions, go out, kill and draw one at a time, harvest, kill, harvest, kill, harvest, kill, harvest, kill, harvest, kill....blah blah.
At this point they're pretty fatigued or wounded, this is a good time to set up a camp and just whittle away at the hide and stuff they just got.
It isn't the problem of the "newb" that can't get any further, it's all about the supposed "newb" that is grinding this stuff for an hour straight and then complaining. The people who go out and hunt, and learn about the game like those of us that lived in the day that scout blasters ruled supreme, enjoy it much more becuase the camps are a great roleplay/necessity.
Once we all get to a higher point with higher amounts of money and materials we all forget about the fundimental part of having a camp in the first place, the atmosphere it provides.
In the begining scout was the only profession that paid to solo hunt.
