Thread: Time-sparing tips on Nabooan carnivores?

Hi,

I am on a contract for Nabooan carnivore meatand have been doing plains cat destroy missions with a pet and a harvest droid. Usually I stumble across Veermok non-mission lairs. I have a feeling that it is faster to harvest carnivore meat from them than from cats. At least they spawn many apes, the giant ones being a pain...since they takerather long time to kill.

Or, is there any faster way to collect carnivorean meat on Naboo? Is it more time-effective to go for low-level carnivores and spam flushingShot2? In that case which ones? Any hints on where to find good dense spawns on Chimaera?

I am halfway master rifleman, dito creature handler and scout 4040.

Tips appreciated, greetings from the sunny Sweden

Don't forget to eat your veghash as well.

I'll ask this, because, I don't know. Remember there is a Narglatch Cave near Moenia and a Veermok Cave near Deeja Peak. Do the creaturesin the cavesgive off normal amounts of meat/bone/hide? For some reason I remember that they gave off something like 1 unit for every creature harvested. But, if they give off normal amounts then it wouldn't hurt to get buffed and armored and clear out those two caves. You could probably fly between the two and by the time you finished one the other would have spawned again.

Others have verified that harvesting in caves always yields 1 unit per corpse. Haven't tried that though.

OK now that we have settled that...does anybody have any hints to my original question:

Quit dabbling, build up your weapons skills and you will get better missions for creatures that drop larger amounts.

CH - useless. Unless you like spending XP for a tank. Drop it, get a tank droid (no xp needed) that can also fight, can that silly harvestor, and get your rifle skills up to master. Your mission levels will jump. As the droid can fight, it will take less time to kill a lair and harvest.

Or continue as you are, in a few weeks you will be master rifle/master CH and still be harvesting at the same low rate you have now, and taking forever to clear a lair.

just my opinion, but been there, done that, got the t shirt

What an attitude....OK, now, let me rephrase:

Does anybody have any useful hints?

General advice: people tend to react better to friendly tone than rude attitude...

As JB says you best bet is to up the level of creature on the terminals by grabbing more combat skills.

Other than that you only havea few optionsoptions:

1) Group- while you'll individually get less together you will get more of a harvest and hence more to sell. This also has the advantage of potentially upping the level of the creatures on the terminal. Grouped lairs also have more spawns per lair than individually picked missions. It is not worth solo grouping because of the decrease in harvesting.

2) Go searching for random spawns & lairs as they spawn more than generated nests - most effecient way to do this is to get the ranger tracking tree. /Areatrack has huge limitations and is a bit hit and miss. It also is dependent on how busy the server is at the time.

3) Drag creatures out of poi's and harvest them. Although this is best just as an accompaniment to getting missions imo as the respawn time can take ages and only works best for the top of any poi as the ones at the bottom will not follow you all the way out.

Hope that helps

You asked a question and got the un-sugar coated straight deal.

Dabblers get low missions as they do not have good fighting skills. Pets require skill points you could be spending on other skills. Droids require no skill pts and can help kill things - notice, pets mainly do kinetic damage, many higher level creatures are resistant to kinetic - so get a droid that can help you kill stuff - instead of sitting there watching. Minimize time on target, maximize harvest. Oh yeah, use veghash too.

Like I said, been there, done that -

Unless, you spend a buttload of points on CH, and get 3 really high level pets out, then you get good missions. However, you can't do that, and master a whole lot of combat professions at the same time - or more precisely, can't do that and harvest at high levels. Or you can harvest, and not fight worth a crap, which means when the pets let a creature slip past, and they will, you get ate. And there is that pesky kinetic thing, some pets fight for days and do no damage. (example - Peko Albatross - 100% resistant to kinetic - good luck with that mauler, it does no damage at all)

Ok, to recap - Pets are ineffective for the most part, average pets even drag your mission levels down. Harvestor droids can't fight, why use them - get a fighter, not a slower picker upper. Master a combat profession - note - ranged support is useless at the master level, unless you are a rifleman. Oh yeah, get medic, at least novice, it helps. Use veghash, can't hurt.

Of course, having been a Master Scout and a Master Ranger for a long time, what do I know about harvesting. Not like I experimented with the various weapons, and melee, and droids, and pets -

you can get the nice guys who will tell you what you want to hear, or you can listen to the people who do it day in and day out

Hi,

What is a poi?

Also, while I'm posting....When someone refers to fighting a mob, are they talking about a group of creatures/NPC's or does "mob" stand for something?

thanks for the help!

Alette,

A POI is a "Point of Interest". They're a seperate tab on your datapad for special spots that people like to visit, like the Sarlacc cave, certain dungeons, the Emperor's Retreat, etc.

"Mob" is a general term for a creature or NPC. It stands for "Mobile Object". When the first MMOS were coming out, the critters were called mobs. It's been around for a long, long time.

Check the holocron (shift-H) for a listing of some common SWG acronyms. I think that's still on there.

Mr,

Despite JBMat's -50 diplomacy skill tape, he's right.

CH is a fun profession to have, but not if your goal is pure hunting or striking power. In order to make good money as a creature harvesters, I would suggest going up Master Rifleman/Master Ranger.

In addition, in order to get the highest level missions, if you are an Imperial, I highly recommend getting an AT-ST. Grouping with it and then getting missions jacks up your mission levels tremendously, but with buffs and a good weapon, it should be nothing a competent Master Rifleman can't handle. It's also a good way to make money.

Caves are set to only give 1 unit of each resource on purpose - so you can't camp the caves.
