Thread: Need help with camp site
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm rather disappointed by the camping system. I am a Scout on Corrilia, and I am waaaay out in the middle of no where, and I constantly get the "you're in a no build zone..." message. It's really agrivating. I thought maybe I need to on flatter ground with no trees near by. Well I have been in a large pretty flat area, all grass and bushes, and I still am unable to camp.
It's really sad when I have spend about 30 minutes RL time traveling out away from a city, and still can set up a camp just any place. What is the point of a Scout, if I can't just up and make camp in the middle of no where? We need to make them for the Survival XP, not to mention I like making them after a big fight to quicken the healing. But by the time I wander around and find a spot where I can camp, I'm already healed up.
Does anyone know if there are any other restrictions in the game for camps, other then distance from a city? Is terrain an issue maybe? Any help would be great.

Terrain has no effect on your ability to build a camp. Erecting the camp actually rearranges the terrain and levels it out so the camp will be level. Having a building or lair or POI close by will prevent you from setting up a camp, but you don't have to go far to avoid that, maybe 25m from the offending structure.
The no-build zones that surround each city vary in size from city to city. Moenia's is relatively small, while Dearic's is huge. Those around Corellian cities are about average, I think. You're just going to have to keep jogging out and trying to set up the camp every few hundred meters, until it works.
Personally, if I just have regular damage, I usually just sit it out until it heals up. Camps are really the most useful for healing up wounds, either through the camp's slow autoheal, or actively if you have enough Medic skills to make wound packs.
