You can get xp even if Mask Scent fails? I will have to watch this as I am close to Explore II.

With explore II, if you're on Tatooine, it's really good to use on Kreetles. There's plenty of verbage out there already on you you go about doing it.

Also, you don't get experience if it fails. You might have gotten exp on something and then have it fail on the buddy and it just showed up right on top of each other, but trust me on this one.

I've got Explore II now and thus Mask Scent I.
So far I've been running around Corellia (outside Tyrena) and it hasn't worked for me once. Not once in about 50 uses! Are there specific creatures I should be trying to use it with or any other tips someone can share?

at first, it isn't very useful. i never had much luck with it until exploration 3 and 4. and i'm a bothan.

however, you can get skill-ups even if mask scent fails, so it can still be used to get some scout xp every now and then.

Actually you don't get XP when it fails, but sometimes it can look that way if you succeed on one creature and then another detects you right after.

Being on Tattooine the only aggros I've found mask scent working on with explore II is the Kreetles. Just about everything else isn't fooled by my sad attempts at hiding my stinky self. Gained explore III last night however, and from what I've been hearing on the boards mask scent becomes much more useful at that point.

I have been using Maskscent since I got it.

I now have Exploration III and it still isn't working well.

Once in every 20 tries or so I get a trickle of exp, not much more.

I am thinking of taking a run on Lok like everyone else is posting.
