Thread: Easy Kills with Mind Pool Attacks. What Animals do you know of?

I've been having good luck with hunting some creatures using a combination of Headshot with a rifle and the Bone Spur trap. Starting at 45 to 50 meters I go to the prone, fire a couple of head shots, go to the kneeling, throw the Bone Spur (don't throw the trap first as the creature will immediately agro on you) and it's mind pool is essentially gone (a trap will never kill an animal outright). You just need one more Headshot to wipe out the last point of the mind pool.

"BUT" (and this is one of those Rosanne sized buts ) this only seems to work on certain creatures. Hunting on Corellia I find that Durni's (the little rabbit critters) and Paralopes are especially vulnerable to this type of attack while others like Vynock's (the flying snake/leeches) and very resistant to it.

What I would like, if people are willing to take the time, is for anyone that knows of other creatures on other planets (or ones on Corellia that I just haven't run in to) that are vulnerable to this attack to post their exp. Also if we could get information on creatures that are vulnerable to Health attacks for the pistol users and Action attacks for carbines that would also be helpful.

Vrelts are susceptible. They don't aggro, pack, or kill, and give wooly hide.

I believe we have a winner.

Corellia... usually some nice nests just north of Coronet.

The other night I was in a group hunting dire cats on Corellia. I used a combination of adhesive mesh trap, bone spur, and noise maker. The adhesive mesh almost completely knocks out the animals action pool in one hit. Then the combination of bone spur and noise maker obliterates the mind pool. From there it's a few shots from one of our riffle men to take it out. Decent trapping xp (79 per hit if I recall correctly) and about 129 scouting xp for each animal. The real kick is after we took the spawn out from the nest I managed to get about 2800 pistol xp for destroying it. As you can see this will obviously be one of our new hunting targets.

adhesive mesh... so you have master trapping already??

i've had similar exp with bocatts and gorgs on tatooine...go prone, fire off a head shot to get them interested, then toss a trap (bone spur works for me and noise makers are great too) then apply the coup-de-grace...

On Naboo, there is a creature called a "rill" that this works well on.

Yeah it was actually fairly easy to achieve. The easiest of my scouting skills thus far. I used to set up traps, fire off about five per creature, usually in the range of 79 xp per hit. Always using the phenacine dart first to slow them down.

The adhesive mesh is nice, don't get me wrong. But it requires a pretty heafty amount of resources, and only comes 2 in a set, which means I am constantly making them. Crafting xp is through the roof but a lot of good that does me, which they had made it gear towards scouting xp.

build your engineering skills with that xp and you can experiment on charges to improve the number of traps you make per attempt.

this is completely untrue, the tents and traps have 1 experiment point cap (like the bone armor plate), and the only 2 options are to up quality or decay resistance, and sadly both are currently bugged LOL (nothing happens when you succead in experimenting). You get this 1 experiment point whether you have artesian or not. I do however wish it did raise stack size, because the adhesive trap in T4 is totally pointless with only 2 per stack. I use only Phenocine Dart and occasionaly the wire-mesh to lower defence. As far as getting crafting xp i wish it was survival or scouting instead. On my char on Starsider i have almost enough GCXP to buy weapon smith (or master artesian) , and I am only half way through trapping 7 (ranger trap 3)and I have built almost nothing from artesian (1 full set of bone armor for a friend and several survey/crafting tools is it)

Sure would be nice if unarmed had ANY called shot. I have all these traps (level 4 as well), and it'll be weeks before I get high enough in TKA to call a shot.

What a waste. Dumb me.

Tatooine -

Krettle
Rills
Worts
Nuna
Bobcatt
Eiopie
Gorgs
Sevorrt
Mylocks (sp.?)

These are all very susceptible to mind pool attacks. I can generally kneel, throw a spur or noise maker and follow with a head shot to bring down any of the above creatures. They hardly ever get close enough to attack me. This really saves the down time of healing wounds.
