Thread: Please market more organics!
Many of the newer scouts are missing out on major money. The artisans need bone and hide badly, the medics and cooks need meat. I don't know about the cooks & medics (medics don't make much unless you tip them), but artisans will buy bone and hide you harvest for 8-10 credits PER UNIT if you just put it on the bazaar in 50+ unit containers! Doesn't sound like a lot, but if you do a mission for 1000c and harvest 25 units from you kills while you do the mission, you've just increased your profits from each mission by at least 150c, maybe 200c if there isn't much on the market already! Plus you'll see more good armor and better medics if they're getting the supplies they need.
Don't miss out on extra money, post your hides and bones to the bazaar (don't flood it with tiney packets of 10 and 20 though please, think big 50+ units per sale) and you will sell them as long as you're not asking more than 10c per unit max. Harvest, harvest, harvest!
right now, i have hides and meat on the bazaar on 3 different planets. the stuff just isnt selling.
i admit that some of them were small quantities 20-50, but that shouldnt matter right? i they want the materials, they should buy them at any amount.
Slightly off the thread topic, but...
Do you have to take artisan skills in order to make camp kits and traps?
At Trap 3 there's one trap that requires metal, so you either will need to purchase it from someone with survey skill or a harvester, or you could pick up Novice Artisan and survey/sample some yourself. I'm not past trapping 3 yet, so I don't know what else requires inorganics.

How much are you selling for, and how big are your stacks? Last night I put a stack of 220 leathery hides for 1k, 230 scaly hides for 500, 220 bones for 1k, and 125 insect meat for 300. Sold them all in Mos Entha within a few minutes. Make sure you have decent sized stacks, and that your prices aren't ridiculous. Other than that maybe the world you currently are on is under populated.
BTW, is anyone else disturbed by insect meat having a flavor over 700?? How do I even know that?! I don't think I want to know what that odd yet tasty meat is the chef is cooking up for me...
While you don't need to have Artisan to make your traps and tents it's actually a good idea to have that skill. You'll find with all the traps and tents you're making to raise your Scout skills that your general crafting skills will go through the roof. I got to Engineering 4 andDomestic 1 and am nearly eligible for eligible for Novice Weaponsmith and aside from one set of bone armor (I ended up selling it as I didn't like the stats) and about 20 assorted CDEF rifles and pistols I've made as I've experimented to get better damage (managed to get one Pistol at 27-58 damage but this is looking like a real fluke) I haven't really done any crafting.
Surveying is also a good way to max your Wilderness Survival Skills. Surveying damages your Mind and Action pools so, if you go away from the key board, for a meal or to watch a good show on tv, leave your character Surveying in a Camp site. As soon as he take is Mind or Action pool to zero he'll stop and the camp will heal that damage for beau coup exp. I'm told you can get to the 800 exp cap with the2 man camp in as little as 20 minutes (I'm usually gone for an hour or so so I can't say for certain). Gathering all those resources also can help you get a deal from weapon smiths but be sure to ask around for what people need. No good gathering a 1000 steel when people are crying for copper
