Thread: Explore 3 and Mask Scent Where to go?

Okay I have explore 3 and mask scent is finally working somewhat. The problem for me is trying to figure out where to go and since I have limited funds at the moment, up and travelling to every planet in the star system isn't a viable option for me.

Can anyone tell me what would be the best place to go to in order to get to explore 4? I did try going to LOK but that's not a good option until you get explore 4. It's simply too dangerous there.

Any helpful suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

trust me, it works...just be ready to use burst run, i had a couple close calls in there

I was standing there, wondering why frisbees get bigger as they get closer, then it hit me!

just bank all your stuff before you goto lok, clone there, and watch the XP roll in.. make a way point to the volcano and just run there and back a few times

PhoreverAPhan:

Are you Trandoshan, and thus have a modifier to your maskscent? I think a lot of people that are saying this is easy are leaving out minor details like that.

Everyone, please try to be descriptive in your posts; like what race you are, if you are using any powerups, etc. This stuff makes a big difference.

But thank you for your ideas guys. I should be hitting Explore III tonight and then it's off to Lok!

PS. I'm a Zabrak with Explore II, hunting on Tatooine and I've had very little luck with maskscent thus far.

Bothans are the ones with the camo upgrade.

And they look like wookies to me. Hey, if a wookie can sneak through a big nasty group of critters, anyone can.

Well I'm a Bothan on Corillia, with Explore II, just got mask scent. If I turn it on while wandering around, it stays up almost all the time. Once in a while it tells me a creature has detected me. Even though I have run right by, or sometimes through, a group of animals with MS on, I don't get any XP.

Can someone tell me how you're supposed to get XP from using Mask Scent? The only I know to get Explore and Hunting up is by getting Scouting XP. And the only way I have seen to get Scouting XP is to kills critters, and to harvest them. That's it. Kind of slow at this point. So if there are other more efficient ways of getting XP, let me know.

I was wondering where to go, when I read this thread. LOK as is stated here, is indeed VERY dangerous.(Note* I have a human scout, just to be perfectly clear) I wasn't very impressed at first and wondered if I had just wasted hard earned cash, but I figured at the very least it would beat the hell out of harvesting keetles for so I pressed on. Well, as it turns out I gained about 10k xp in about an 1 1/2 hours, once I figured out the patterns.Death? ....none,a few close calls, but nothing I couldn't shake off. Before the adventure I banked EVERYTHING except for boots and pants. This is probably the most important advice. Also,I will mention that snakes seem to be the most lucrative.I don't know why, but they were definatlylessagressive than the rest. I officially recommend it. Besides, those .....Big Things that I can't recall the name of are impressive to look at. Not only is the XP better,it is a lot more entertaining.

I guess it doesnt really matter because I already got to Explorer IV while getting pistol specialist, but how do you gain exp with mask scent?

Does just going near aggressive mobs with mask scent give you scouting XP?

If thats so does it mean I can do thesame thing to get to Hunting III?

etyep55, what I'm wondering is this... as a human, were you able to do that with explore 3? Or not until explore 4?

Thanks. =)

This is very helpful advice. I'm making notes. I was curious as I'm not a scout but am thinking of making one:

When you are found out by a creature and discovered, do you just instantly put up mask scent again and if so does the exp roll in or do you have to move back out of range and back in. Secondly, what distance are you going around the mobs - are you circling the mobs about 60m out or 50m in or are you running right through em?

Thanks.

I just hit ExpIIII actually. What I do is this .....I move within 60-70m of the group of reads. This will get you close enough, gut still leave enough slack for escapes. Moving in and out of ranged doesn't appear to be an issue, as I've found steady XP walking the parimeter of a Red Group. Range couldcould be a factor somehow, but MMORPG's have so many hidden variablesit's really hard to say what is, and isn't. I am NOT running through a group, just there parimeter. And I dont even get close to those ....Big Things I can seem to remember the name again. You will go a minute or two with appearent progress, but will hit a jack pot and see ( 215, 91 110 scouting xp) flashing on the screen. Good luck. This place is golden.

P.S. I've yet to die.
