When did this become a bug? Any idea (other than anti-Scout/Ranger conspiracy theories) why mask scent is supposed to break on combat?
Any idea why I still bother trying to find a reason to play this game?

LOL, my theory... is that the devs are all shortselling SOE stock and hoping the player base will drop dramtacially, thus causing the stock to loose value and them to make money. Selling short is the way to go, everyone!

This is an odd bug, not really a bug, but a bug as perceived by others.
Way back - maskscent was on. You would get a message, or not, that it had failed a check. Mainly you got aggroed by a creature which was the indicator that maskscent had broken. We asked that we get a message that maskscent had broken and we were being stalked or that maskscent had broken period. The combat music and red X was a not very nice way of telling us our maskscent had broken. Along these lines, entering combat broke maskscent. But we had that fixed so that we could do solo pulls.
Now - but a few days back. Scout is wandering around. No message or red X, just a set of teeth in your butt - oh wow, I am in combat. My maskscent must have failed. (Realize we are asking that we get a visual indicator of maskscent - different thread).
Now we get the message that maskscent has failed, hopefully before we get a set of teeth in the butt. Owen is currently yelling about combat auto-breaking maskscent. Anticipate this being fixed.
What truly is not nice is camo kits work the same way. Well, they would if we could use them - dumbazz Dev's haven't fixed that bug as far as I know (/conceal is not concealshot you buncha rocket scientists). So we can anticipate that entering combat will break camo as well as maskscent.

We realy need to find out if this effects /conceal aswell. The main reason this change got reverted back in the day was because it was basically cancelling out our camo kit application which we had payed good money for and also we had to wait until the re-apply timer passed when we wanted to put mask or camo back on.
I dont know about you guys but i dont see that anything has changed, it still hurts us and it still isnt fun.
Like i said, we need to get /conceal back in game first so we can see how it effects both. Having two issues with the same mechanism gives us more bargaining power when it comes to discussing the feature's removal.

this is still a problem in my eye's. because i have died because creature that werent there when i passed by are there after the fact i get the message maskscent had failed and i am dead. about a mile after i have already passed the area. So i do get a chance to pass a bad area. My thoughs are this. When mask scent was wokring pre-cu. when this instance happens i would get the message i failed or camo broke but since i was already a safe distance i wouldnt be killed. or i would get xp from them and mask scent would stay on. As it stands now i have to stand on top of any red creature to get xp which is fine if i am inteading to do so.
