Thread: no trapping xp

how can i get trapping xp...i throw traps at animals and it allways says trapped missed then when i finally hits it i get no xp, so how am i supposed to get trapping xp ?

Aww,
You've gotta make sure you're trapping critters that you are able to trap with your skill. No skill means - little critters.
Read my guide under trapping for a lot of tips that will help you out.

I looked through the forums for anyone else having this problem, but I did not see any. All I saw were mask scent and camo fixes (good).
The problem is though, I cannot get trapping xp at all. It says I am successful with the trap, but I see no xp gain whatsoever. I checked the combat log to see if it was there, and it is not; neither is it reflected on my skills sheet. So, can anyone else confirm this?

As far as I can tell, Trap XP is only given when the creature is killed... I did see Trap XP in my combat log yesterday... did you /bug it?

Yeah I bugged it. I will check the xp upon death thing soon and report it back here.

I just got done playing and received trapping xp with no problem. The system has change now to where you don't get the xp until the creature is dead.

And just a head's up. "This is working as intended."
The change was designed to prevent harvesting trap XP off of high level creatures.
Basically it was to prevent the old. A-Mesh a Rancor and then throw Glow-Juice till you maxed strategy.

Like I used to do.
I don't mind this really. But, do you get the same amount of xp from a rancor from doing all these traps then killing it?

It's an interesting question which another poster mentioned. I'm going in to test this now on TC and see what the story is.

I just tested it on live:
I am level 66 and I trapped and killed a level 61 Bull Rancor. Three of my traps hit him. I received 856 trapping xp, and this is supposedly with the double xp week. This means that it would normally be 428. With Trapping in Ranger being 250000, I don't see how we will be able to level up without spending enormous amounts of time trapping.

I just tested it on live:
I am level 66 and I trapped and killed a level 61 Bull Rancor. Three of my traps hit him. I received 856 trapping xp, and this is supposedly with the double xp week. This means that it would normally be 428. With Trapping in Ranger being 250000, I don't see how we will be able to level up without spending enormous amounts of time trapping.

Double xp doesn't start until May 2nd.
You're right. Still, it seems the xp requirements need to be lowered if we will be getting 856 xp regularly on a high level creature, and only the second box is worth 250k.
