This may be a ignorant question but if your inventory lists 13 leathery hides then lower in the inventory it lists 2 leathery hides is there a way to combine the 2 into one space in the inventory since they are the same item? and how do ya do it

thanks

If you just hover your mouse over the hides, you'll notice that one of the attributes is something along the lines of "Resource Type", I've forgotten the actual correct wording. At any rate, those types are what you can stack, you can't stack different types. To make this easier luckily, all resources auto-stack (or at least that's been my experience).

You can't. Even though both containers hold hides, they aren't the same. Each resource has a quality for example. The container of two hides and the container of thirteen hides may not be the same type, may not have the same quality, etc. Only ressources that are exactly the same are condensed into the same container. This is done automatically for you whenever you harcest something, unless of course you decide to split the container yourself.

Actually, Shadow can, because both resources are the same type, they are leathery hides. If you just click and drag one resource, you can drop it on the other, if they are the same type. You would then have 15 resources using only one slot.

The point is that there are different sub-types of leathery hides, with different names and different stats (on quality, and so on). Those can't be stacked together, which is why Shadow gets two different containers in his inventory labelled "leathery hide".

Fuchsia has it right here... Periodically, the stats of 'leathery hides' will change. Once they change, the 'old' hides will not be able to be stacked with the 'new' hides. And I believe you can also find hides with the same name off different creatures that have different stats as well.
