Thread: Trap Building Questions

I am new to SWG and MMORPGs so forgive my silly newb questions.

How exactly does one get new schematics for traps? Is it solely from leveling up in trapping?

How exactly does one improve the quality of his traps? Is it solely from creation/use?

If someone could point me to a good resouce for this type of info it would be considered a great kindness.

As to the first question, I only know of getting them through leveling. I don't know that we can experiment or buy them or anything, and I don't know that it matters.


I think the quality of the resources used to maketraps and camps matters very little, because there are not statistics in the creation screen to base this assumption on. I have to assume that better successes equal better product, but I don't know of any quantitiative way of doing this.

I do think that the materials seem to play into it. I've noticed that I tend to get better results with leathery hides and regular bones as opposed to bristly, scaley, and avian etc. It could just be a weird quirk though. Anyway, just play around with the different materials and see if you notice any difference. Its going to take a lot of traps anyway to make it to level 4 if you intend to go that way, so making some sub-par traps won't really hurt.

Also, the same as with artisans, scouts CAN experiment on their traps when near an appropriate (Weapon, Droid and Generic Item) crafting station and using the proper(Weapon Droid and Generic Item) crafting tool. Not sure what level this occurs at, but I have trapping II and I am able to experiment, so maybe it just deals with the fact of thetool you are usingand the station you are standing near. Sofar I haven't noticed anything great about my ablility to experiment with traps.

You will get new trap designs as you level up in Trapping. usually about 2 per level.


Actually, quality of your bones/hides, anything you craft with, plays a big role in what you are making. To utilize for making traps you must use a weapon crafting tool while standing near a weapon crafting station in town. Looking at the overall quality of the materials when you select them you can increase the chance of using experimentation of increasing the items durability and effectiveness.
