Just wondering...

I continue to get trapping XP after reaching Trapping IV, but is there any reason for it? Can I put those points into something, or is it just acedemic at this point?

Thanks!

You can use it if you go the Ranger route...

I believe that trapping skill will be useful if you want to become a ranger. Otherwise it's just useless and will be capped once you reach 2x the amount required for next level.

If I'm not mistaken, though, the "Trapping" line under Ranger takes "scouting" experience, not "trapping" experience.

Trapping line for Ranger tree takes trapping skill.

As before, trapping xp is used for Ranger trapping as well.

I am working toward being a ranger, but need 3K more scout xp. However, I have enough trapping xp to complete the first two tiers of Ranger trapping as soon as they become available.

Traps are still very usefull even at Level IV. I use the Snare traps to solo kinda sorta tough beasts like Kamura's. My group used them on Tortaurs to slow em down enough that we could kill them. 235 scout exp is another bonus to Torts.

In fact the only traps I bother with are indeed the snare line. The root traps are just not as efficient. Though I would really wish that once you obtain Bounty hunter status traps would then work for humanoids. Maybe they do haven't tried. whoa tooo much coffee.

Interesting, I find the Root Traps to be invaluable, use them all the time.

Sorry to be a bit dense, but which are the root and snare traps? The Noise Maker has a stun I think, but I haven't seen any say anything that made me think root or snare.

Thanks!

The snare I've seen is one of the dart traps - forget the name of it. Description is some sort of poison that slows the animal... If you watch the damage message off the critter when you throw the dart trap, you'll see a snared message float up off it.

The Noise Maker has a stun/mind effect, but its not a Stun like DAOC or (insert other MMO here), have to RTFM to see what it does, but I've never noticed anything great from the stun. The mind slam is nice

The Phenacine Dart is the snare, and slows movement

The Adhesive Mesh you get at Trapping IV is the Root as well as hampering action.

Also:

Bone Spur-hits mind

GLow Juice- Range only debuff

Stink Bomb- helps other status effects land

Glow Wire- both Ranged and Melee debuff (think better than glow juice, but cannot confirm)

The debuffs don't seem to be that great, but the root/snares/mind damages are nice.

Another reason to continue getting experience after you max out ANY skill - if yougive up the skillat some point, then decide you want it back, you will already have a lot of the experience you need. You don't have to start from scratch.
