Thread: Need Master Scout finished....Need Tips!!
Heya,
I got Master Marksman and need to finish Scout so I can go for BH. I've been lazy because scout EXP is long and boring to do solo.
So, I am asking those people out there to give me any advice to tips to make this less painful and fast. =p
I got 3 Storm Commando pets that I can take with me, and I got full Padded and Ubese armor. I got some good weapons too.
I was thinking of going near Wayfar/Jabba's and killing creatures around there.
The only skills I have left to finish are:
Exploration 4, Hunting 4.
That's it. I got almost halfway to go for 1 of those to be finished.
PLEASE HELP!!!! =p Thanks!
Evan,
I need a macro for this.
Read my guides for tips.
The following threads have info on strategies for raising "scouting" XP. Trapping is simple. Find a big creature, throw one of every trap that you have at it, do it again.

The best way to gain experience fast is by grouping and trying to be the only scout/ranger or one of maybe two in a large group who are hunting. Hunt large, dangerous, and aggressive creatures. Use your best traps but mix them. The primary thrown first, shoot and a secondary to hurt it and handicap it more, then shoot. If the trap you're using is not one that will stop it, it usually "roots" them, then you need to throw a trap, shoot twice while continuing to move away, then throw another one. I always use a root trap first, it give me soloing or the group a chance to attack and keep your distance from them all at once (You need to know also that I am almost a Master Ranger, so my traps root well and seem to be more effective then a Master Scouts, so you have to take my advice into consideration with that in mind. The scout traps I tend to use are bone spur and the mesh one because the blind and effect melee with little lose of resources. Other wise I almost always use the P dart of a Ranger. It tranquilizes them and usually roots them fairly well. So either I or the group can effectively move off and attack for close to three to four turns depending on skills and weapons being used. If you group has melee fighters in it, your really need to root them and then immediately throw a trap that affects the creatures melee abilities, so they have a better chance of moving in and attacking with less potential of taking as much damage. So be sure to take into consideration who you have in the group when you are fighting.
Next it is helpful if you are using rifle, pistol, or carbine (not sure about melee how this would help) but examine a creature before you attack. See which weakness it has. If its to heat, acid, electricity, blast, energy, etc. Use the weapon of best choice that you currently own, and inform the group of your findings before they go in blazing away. It will take a lot longer to take down a very dangerous creature using weapons that are far less effective then ones that are effective against it.
I use a rifle, and a pistol. My rifle is for long distance, preferably covered shots. My pistol I switch to as soon as the creature closes on me because of the point blank attack penalty to rifles and carbines. I have not used carbines so others will need to speak to their effectiveness.
If you have a creature (you do not need to be a CH to have one) even a non-CH can have a challenge level 15 non-aggressive animal as a help. Look at it as a partner who can come in and help if your really taking a beating. I am a Ranger/CH so I use a higher animal (Grand Wrix or Greater Sludge Panther but you could use a Wrix and a Sludge Panther or Sand Panther). They have a high resistance to most attacks, a higher then average chance to hit, a good damage amount. My two pets I rely on have more then once prevented a very dangerous aggressive killer from being able to kill me with a death blow. I usually have taken them down sufficiently that these guys can really either finish the creature or at least so distract them before they become incapacitated that I live on and then come back to kick that creatures *** after I get back up and am able to attack once more. Do not underestimate the saving ability and helpful ability of a lvl 15 creature just because you are not wanting to be a CH.
