If I buy basic camp kits from someone, am I able to use them w/o the novice skill?

I'd like to give back the points but could use the occassional camp to call pets, etc.

Only Scouts have the skill needed to successfully set up a camp. So either find a friend who is a Scout to group with out there in the wild, or make a very wise decision and pick up novice Scout for yourself.

I've got scout now (Expl 4) but am trying to balance the need to call pets in the wild vs. the 15 skill points. Guess I've got some cogitating to do.
