I dont like it. I would rather it go BACK to the way it was before. I regularly group with 2 others and I'm the ONLY one in the group to Harvest. This is MAJOR nerf for my group.

The solution is simple. Make it an option of the group leader to either turn this on or off just like autoloot. This makes sure thatharvesting creaturesis optimized at all times. When you have a big group with several scouts the group leader could turn it on so all scouts can harvest. When a person is solo with pet or grouped with just 2 or 3 others who are not scouts they could leave this feature turned off so the single scout gets the full harvest.

Simple...problem solved.

Just one suggestion. Raise the solo harvests back to their old levels and reduce grouping harvesting. It is currently very hard for a solo harvester to make a living, but a group of 20 with scouting abilities could really rake in WAY to many hides. If the reduction must come, make it come from groups since most of them are worried more about the exp than the harvest anyway. Also add an opt out for groups where only one person wants to harvest. I would suggest capping it so a group could never harvest more than 200% of the hides a creature normally drops (which would still be more hides for them than the old way).

I agree with GreenMarine. It is not 50% when solo. It's been empirically shown to be somewhere around a 30-40% reduction.

This affects me directly as I am a master ranger that relies on harvesting for income and I solo most of the time though not all the time.

Maybe this is the time to reiterate that a master ranger should be harvesting far more resources than a novice scout. Maybe +creature harvesting should make a more considerable difference? A master ranger should harvest alot more than a master scout, but right now the difference is negligable.

Are we sure it wasn't suppose to be 5% and ended up 50%?Because I can agree with a 5% decrease.

Why reduce the amount of harvesting for solo players? What if I don't want to group with others or I don't have enough game time to form a group? Solo players shouldn't be penalized just because all scouts in a group can harvest now. The reduction for group scouts makes ssense. Doing that to solo players does not. One reason I like Galaxies more than EQ is the fact that I don't feel like I'm being forced to group. Please don't change it that way.

Lorell,

You aren't being forced to group.

But the way the system was before, you had a pretty heafty incentive to NOT group.

Now you've got a pretty hefty incentive TO group.

The soloing issues are bugged - the reduction wasn't meant to be as large as it is. This much is also obvious from Holo's post.

We'll get a happy medium soon.

delta, now the answer has come. In my simple question thread you said you would rpond after the answer came. here is the post:

If this was going to maintain the same ammount of hids/bone/meat in the world, why do 200 hides now sell for 3k? Why can I fit the entire galaxy of hides for sale at the bazaar in 3 screens?

The cut back did not work. Hides and bone are now a rare comodity. I know as a ranger, I refuse to sell any at all anymore because I need all I can get.

And where are these illusive groups that all harvest and let one person take all the harvested goods? I have NEVER seen such a thing. Each person walks away with a few measley hides that may have added up to more than was looted before, but they sure arent sharing.

please take another look at this and at actual numbers across more than just my server. If these numbers from kettemoor hold true across all galaxies, then please fix this ASAP.

Delta, if the "hefty incentive to group" which you mention is "hefty enough," then YES you are essentially being forced to group.

Also, I sometimes hunt with a Combat Medic friend of mine so we can gather things he needs for his poisons. He doesn't have any scout abilities. Even if the devs go with the fix it seems like they are considering, I'll still get a lot less from a harvest even though I'm the only one harvesting, or even CAPABLE of harvesting.....

An option for the group leader to turn multi-scout harvest on or off would be a good idea to help address everyone's concerns.

Plus, a fixed reduction in harvesting efficiency doesn't address the problem with people exploiting the system by making groups with 10-20 scouts. It needs to be reduced proportionally to the number of scouts in the group, or it's going to provide an extremely strong incentive for 20 scout groups to roam the land killing durnis and flooding the market with billions of units of wooly hide.... (OK, a little bit of hyperbole there.... )

Without a propritional decrease, there's no way to properly balance this change.

whole galaxy of ketermoor, thre is now 6 wooley hide sales on the bazaar now... yeah this fix worked...

Stop,. take 2 minutes and look at actual numbers.. the balance failed.. it was a bad poorly thought out concept. No biggie. that happens. Trying to hold on to it is just plain stupid. The reason I am getting angry is because there are actual numbers to look at and y6all are refusing to look at them.

There were 5 to 10 pages of hide sales before this nerf.. now there are 3 total pages for the whole galaxy.

Simple math peeps if this was going to keep the same ammount of hides in the economy.. where are they?

\Somebody answer that ojne simple question. Where are all these alledged hides and bones?

Also, there has been no noticable difference of resources on Bloodfin- very few people sell harvested resources regularly, and rare/quality harvestedsare as difficult as ever to come by. Although in theory it may make more resources available, in the real world things happen differently.

Unless something changed between last night and today I'm not seeing nearly the drop in hides that some people are reporting here.

4 hides on a kimo? Holy mackeral... I was getting 12-13bones from womp rats, whereas I was harvesting 16-17 before the patch. That's only a 25% reduction.

Hides and meat returns were similar, roughly a 25% reduction.

I don't see what all the complaining is about thought... I mean, hey, supply and demand. I harvested about 1750 Tatooine animal bones in 2 days of play (total of about 3 hours). I sold 2 lots of them in groups of 800 for 3 credits each. I kept 150 for myself, I still have a surplus of bones that I use for traps and camps. I WISH I noticed that bones were hard to come by. I would have made smaller packages and sold them for more.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Just my take on it.

That's good to hear.

Holocron wrote:

to offset the fact that now you can now get resources in a group, which means there are a lot more resources in the world.

Perhaps we need to get you some more data, but from my experience it seems to be MORE than 50%. I'm getting about 40 meat from creatures I used to get 110+ from, even when solo, and this is as a MASTER RANGER, I can no longer make a viable amount of money, not even enough to pay for my own travel costs, from a simple hunting trip to an advanced planet. As I have said before in several posts, the whole concept of SOLO HUNTING HAS BEEN DESTROYED. The only way a Ranger can make any decent, profitable amount of resources is if he groups with 4 or 5 others, and they are ALL generous enough to give him ALL resources harvested. It's ridiculous. I understand that there should always be a definite advantage to hunting (or doing anything) in a group, but it should never be ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED TO DO SO. Please, most of us believe a SERIOUS error has been committed here, and something needs to be done about it.
