Thread: Scout Correspondent Weekly E-Mail to the Developers Week 1
Great email, Delta!
As far as the monkey (LONG LIVE THE MONKEYS! hehe) making opportunities, I actually don't mind doing destroy missions, as I am working on the pistoleer tree as well, and I have some medical and entertainer skills as well to enhance my survival XP. I've had many wayfarers see my camp and ask to join. Then they realize that I am healing them with my secondary skills, I end up with a nice exp boost, plus the occasional tip.
It also helps when I am with my friends when we're grouped up in the boonies.
I do like the idea of camp/trap making to help on the survival XP tree, as I do not plan on opening the artisan profession. Perhaps if a scout/artisan combo player could split the exp on making the trap/camp, or for those like me who don't plan on going artisan get the exp to their survival xp? Kind of like how trap takes away from combat XP.

Delta,
Great e-mail. I agree that the maskscent nerf needs to be addressed. Personally, I'd like to see them put it back the way it was and nerf the xp for maskscent (I'd be happy if there was no xp). Nobody actually uses this to get xp post-nerf, right? (Gee, am I going to run near that queen arachne or kill and harvest a durni for that 50 pts of scouting xp - ooohhh, tough call). I think this comes down to a decision between making a more useful skill (i.e. making it harder to break) and making it a more exciting skill (i.e. easy to break but you can re-apply it quickly so it keeps you on your toes). I did run across Yavin pre-nerf and it was a blast. That was the funnest thing I've done so far in this game. I still think that if they put it back the way it was and take away the xp thenscouts/rangers would go back to exploring.
As far as money making opportunities go, I'm not sure there's really an issue here. Our increased terrain negotiation and burst run abilities make us significantly faster getting to/from missions than other classes. Also, we have options for taking out lairs without fighting the mobs that most classes don't have (again, because we're faster) making the missions themselves extremely fast. If you aren't running 4-5 sets of missions an hour then you might want to look at how you're running missions. I know that I can pull in 20K-30K an hour on corellia and I've been told I can double that on endor (although every time I've been there it's been so laggy it's just a deathtrap). Maybe this is low compared to other classes but who cares? If I can get a set of composite and the best weapon money can buy in under a day, what else would I be looking for?
Thanks for your efforts Delta ... we all appreciate it,
Dawolf

I think there are alot of players out there that picked up scout for the camping and Harvesting. I'm not sure we should give really good traps to every low level scout out there. Make it something you really have to work for.
Almost exactly what I was getting ready to say...
I'm still waiting on my monkey making opportunities.
Here'sa bump so people recognize the issues we've already brought up.
