okay here is a reply
why in god's name do I have to randomly slaughter animals and skin their carcasses to become a creature handler.
if I remember correctly jane goodall didn't go around clubing gorrillas with a stick.

That is completely irrelevant to this issue. Maskscent still works the same way as it did before. Just now there is actually a difference between someone with exploration IV and somebody who is a ranger. If it fails, you are in trouble now. where before you could jus tkeep putting it back on.

Iagree with the original poster. You guys are aware at exploration 4, you ave a total of 30 camo skill out of a possible 100. Gee, why does this rancor detect me? Sorry if that sounded mean but, they didn't nerf maskscent. They made it so your skill level actually mattered

HEY retard... then why is it that a stinking n00bie piece of crap durni "baby"! sees through my /maskscent 9 out of 10 times? God **edit** get off the whole kick about everyone wanting to tame a rancor. This skill is completely broken now because everything sees through it (i.e. Durni bunny babies, rancors etc...). Either drop the XP or make the success ratio a lot higher.
You're not going to change anyones mind here, even though I actually agree with you. The skill itself needed some balancing.. though I don't think it needed a complete nerf. There really needs to be some middle ground.
His class was pointless and now it's not. Get it?
Okay. I've been reading these threads and this original poster is right.
Everyone here knew the xps for maskscent, running around Lok for 6k an hour, was over the top.
I still made a LOT of extra xps today using the skill.
In the world of prey and predators the "prey" (read non-agressive) types of creatures are highly attuned to danger. It is common for predator (read aggressive) types of creatures to watch the "prey" around them as alarms for danger. That is exactly what this game is imitating when those fuzzy, little, harmless things spot you and cause the reds to see you.
BUT I have a problem with the first level of maskscent... it just plain sucks, unless you are a bothan. I earned maybe 200xps with it, and that's only 2% (because I'm counting hunting and exploration) of the xps needed to raise in rank.
The skill is still very useful. I earned at least800xps/hour sneaking up oncritter neststoday. And for a very brief (and terrifying) trip to Endor I made at least that in about 20 minutes of just looking around and not engaging a single mob. I just had to move cautiously, and use your head now. It's much more challenging.

In conclusion, talk to some of your crafting friends about their expense/profit ratio, and how hard it has become to gather resources... then see if you think OUR jobs are too hard.
Thanks for your time.

Gerrott, for some reason those stupid spiders don't award xps for that skill. I think they are (pun not intended) bugged. Try it on other "red" creatures.

ok i have explore 3 now and this skill has never got me a single point of xp. i used it sneaked up to a hermit spider, aggressive and blue, got within 3m of it walked back away from it nothing. so tell me how does this skill get any xp?
You can hardly gain since they jacked it up..but you CAN..it's just lessl ikely because you keep getting revealed every 5 seconds. In other words..go harvest creatures..its much easier..or do like me..don't play at all.
