i have to say 'no' as well

i've been master scout for some time, and was stuck on survival 4 for even longer. want to know what i do? its' quite simple, especially if you're on corellia: don't bother taking missions, go run in the area between coronet, kor vella, and tyrena (yes, that diamond of ground they make) looking for tabages and crazed durnis. stay AWAY from the wrixes...as far away as you feel like your life is worth. run close enough to most other red dots on your radar to get the /maskscent exp, unless its a greater plains stalker (i've only seen 1 or2 of those...but i got 192 scout exp with wayfaring2). also, /maskscent is basically worthless until explore3, even if you're a bothan. if you're a bothan, at explore3 the scout exp starts taking off, for everyone else you get a nice little bonus at explore3 and a large chunk at explore4. skip the hunting tree entirely (at the very least, 2-4) until you've mastered explore. the higher your skill in the hunting trees, the less scout exp you get for /maskscent AND harvesting. a higher explore skill will decrease your exp as well, but not much and it also gives you higher bonuses.

killing the tabages and crazed durnis (tabages run about as fast as a baby can crawl through sand, crazed durnis twice that speed) gives me 272 carbine exp, 27 combat, 6 scout for the maskscent, and 90 scout for the harvest on the tabages. crazed durnies are 192, 19, 2, and 70. also, the lairs of them you find in the wild contain approx 4 times the number of critters as the ones you take from missions. i can expect to get around 10k weapon exp per tabage lair, as long as i take a little time with it.

I also have to say No,

I moved from tatooine to corillia for the sheer number of easy giant MOB's that i can kill and get exp from.

I get on average 3-5K scout exp in an hour 1K trap exp and about 4K pistol. I only play for 2-3 hrs everyother day so i know it's going slow for me but I'm almost a CH I moved to Hunting Explore 3 within 2days of landing on corrillia, so if you look in the right places you can get ther just takes a little time. I even got mask scent to work for me off the regular/diesased Vrelts, that was wierd just for no re4ason getting 93 scouting exp forrunning.

I'll say no. I NEVER used maskscent & I got to CH about the same time as Pistoleer.(Only weapon I use) Maybe your fighting too many humanoids?

NO.

Scouting XP is easy to get. Its called harvesting. Mask Scent just adds some bonus xp. It's not that hard, there are a lot of Master Scouts already. Survival to me is more difficult.

I'm going to have to say No as well.

I can't really see how there's that much of a problem with the scout exp. Yes, I am one of the long list of people that are trying to become a bh, I'll just admit that right up front. Sofar Ihave been able to get to the Master Scout skill before getting to Master Marksman so it's very difficult for me to see that everyone else is having so much trouble getting the exp with the way the system works right now...

Scout, and scout xp, has to be some of the easiest in the game to get. The only pain in the scout line is Wilderness Survival. If it weren't for that (and *that* can be overcome with some judicious AFK camping), getting to master scout would be trivial.

I had actually done Explore IV and Hunting III before I ever heard of the mask scent method. Now granted, I did crank through hunting IV relatlively quickly with it, then it was nerfed. Even with that, I've still gotten to Ranger Explore I and Hunting II, without particularly trying (I'll likely drop the ranger line eventually, unless they improve it, but it's decent filler, for now).

You just have to kill and harvest everything in sight. Sure, it may get a little dull at times (but if you're grinding for xp, you should expect some dullness), but look at it this way: In addition to scout xp, you're also getting weapon xp. Even as a CH, I'd imagine you'll want some sort of weapon for backup if things go south. So it's win-win.

And for reference, I only play an hour or 2 in the evenings, with maybe 3-4 hours on the weekends. That's probably fits most folks' definition of 'casual player'. So it's certainly not impossible.

No,
I have the same opinion as everyone else. I'm working on tier 4, and I'm having a blast. I rarely use the masksent and I only play for about 2 hours a night. Once I got to trapping III I can now take down most yellowand red con animals by myself with out probots or pets and trust me I'm not that smart... Just make sure you harvest everything you kill, I'm sure you'll do okay. The only thing that is a little time consuming is wilderness survival if you solo a lot.

THANK YOU ALL!
After reading a lot of the good positive posts I see on here, I have been trying out some of the hints, and also trying out some of my own. Seems to be working a lot better.
Also, for scouts that haven't mastered any weapon yet and are still working up to CH, i got a hint for you. Go to the shores south of Coronet. There are plenty of Vrelts and Durni's there, and although these are small (giving about 40-55 scout xp per harvest) there are some great benefits to being down there. #1- There aren't 20 other people scaveging for kills there, I was the only one there. And #2- Although small, they are fast kills, and they respawn incredibly fast which means you can get about 100 xp per minuite considering you can kill two within a min. Factoring in time to sit and heal, I probably made 3000-4000 scout xp in the hour that I was there.
Also, to all scouts, be sure to get a Probot. They kill almost as fast as you can, and sometimes you can even just sit back and relax and let them do the killing.

Again, thanks for all the tips everyone, and may the force be with you all!

NO

Its good to see I am not alone in thinking Scout XP is already plenty easy to get. At Exploration IV, Rifle III, and Hunting II I decided I wanted to get to creature handler. Over the course of about 20 hours of gameplay over the weekend, I made Rifle specialist, Hunting III, Hunting IV, and Novice Creature Handler. All by doing destroy missions and harvesting. It is not that hard to get Scout XP. Now, I did do so many missions it made me sick of them for a few days but I ground it out with little problem. I am on Correllia and I was hunting Khabru and diseased Vrelts with the occasional Vynock lair. The traps mnake a big difference. Using sharp bone spur in combination with head shots was a huge advantage. Even after I made rifle specialist and started working on pistol skills instead, the snare trap and the adhesive mesh (once I made Trapping IV) gave me plenty of time to bring an even con Khabru down to 25% health before it broke loose from thr trap and came after me. Being an Artisan with a harvester to mine out the polymer I needed for Adhesive mesh trap helped as well as being an armorsmith to be able to make my own Mabari Armorweave.

No, the problem is not the skill. The problem is play styles. I read about people complaining they do not get mask scent exp enough or creatures break mask scent to much. Well we all know (hopefully) that mask scent does not grant exp vs non aggro creatures because there is no reason to have it on to tyr ot hide fomr non-aggro creatures at the scout level. SO here is an idea (this has been a post before by someone else so i am not taking credit for idea), turn your mask scent on and off as you need it. As you approach aggro creatures turn it on and try to get some exp. Turn it off was you walk past hte non aggro creatures. Also do some scouting and see which creatures give hte best exp for the time involved. If it takes you 10 minutes to kill a white con and you get 120 scout exp from the harvest, but you can kill 6 light blues and get 40 scout exp from each hunt the light blues.

Something else to keep in mind is that maskscent should not work everytime. What fun would that be if it worked every time and no scouts had to worry about creatures attacking us? That would take the risk level completely out of the game.

I am not yet a master scout i still need survival experience, however i have explore 4 and hunting 4. I have gianed this skill by harvesting hides. I play maybe an hour a day.If I can do it so can everyone else.

No also.

If anything needs to be changed, it's the survival experience gain. I am maxed on all my scout skill and trapping and have 30,000 extra exp for each that I can't spend yet because my survival exp is lagging behind. It appears that 30K is the max extra exp you can have (at least that's all it lists).

Scout experience is pretty easy to get. No need to mess with it.
