When you weigh it out, Chitin is a good armor - for taking blaster fire and PvPing - at a low level. It's not going to give you the protection of Padded or Composite, unless you get an extremely well made set. It looks cool though.

For scouting Mabari is the best armor, in my opinion. I have a set of Padded for PvP, butI generally never use armor when I'm hunting, even in groups, because I don't want to have my stat regen that encumbered. Instead I wear my "Gnortinator" gear- all black.
