Thread: Fast and Good Trapping XP Tactic

There's a tactic that I have been using to run up trapping XP called Paralope boxing. Go find a paralope lair.

Very important is you have a marksman level 2 skill or higher deselct all of your ranged weapons (you'll kill them too quick), novices and level 1 should select the weapon of their choice (you'll get shooting XP on this too).

Close to within 40m of a paralope that is seperated brom the rest (you don't want to get mobbed). If there isn't one be patient and wait, they wander around a lot. Target the paralope.

Now I usually rip off 3 traps (wire - noise - stink works well) in row. I back off from the paralope (unfortunately I don't seem to be able to back up fast enough to keep them from closing I guess paralopes are allowed to get some licks in) until the effects wear off. Usually I can get through the sequence 2 - 3 times before I beat the poor beastie to death.

Each successful throw gets me 42 points. Thats 126 xp per series If I get 3 successful series in (which I have but not that often) thats 378 trapping xp's. not bad for a few damage points.

Yes.. paralopes are good killing. Just big enough for good Exploration XP and also work well for Trapping XP. Durnis are great, very slow and good hides. Usually are a lot of them around too.. I've found it works best as a scout, to just get some delivery/destroy missions. If you happen to be near animals as you're moving from city to city, kill them.

Go prone, fire a shot to weaken it, perhaps another to weaken a larger animal, then throw your trap. It runs towards you, you can get average amounts just doing that. If you're not in any rush, it never hurts to just stop and kill some animals. I'm mostly on Coreilla, so there's my experience from it.

Also.. if you happen to find some of your similar Faction people out in the field, such as Imperial troops in the field, near large animals that you can't normally take down. Lure the animals to the troops, they'll protect you and you can throw traps then harvest later on. And if you're incapacitated, they can't deathblow you as they're fighting off the troops.

Interesting about PC's running faster than Banthas without burstrun. What kind of Trapping XP do they net per trap? Is there a difference between trapping XP from a Rogue Bantha and regular everyday Bantha? Sounds like I need to spend more time on Tatooine.

Blue,

If you've gota bot or a friend to help hunt with, go for Fambaas and Falumpsets. They are slow and easy to take down. XPsabout 350-400 per trap. Giant Pekos are about the same, but they move quicker.

Belle Bolsand and Guama's are good middle range trapping prey. Again, you'll probably need a buddy, but you can work through 200-350 per trap in there.

Low level good trapping creatures include Nightspiders, Hermit Spiders, Gnorts and the other little guys that spawn in vast swarms. They are easier to kill, give between 39-50 trap XP each, and infest Naboo. You can't swing a dead gnort on this planet without hitting three live ones.
