Thread: Apprentice XP for Master Scout nice theory, but seems like a pyramid scheme
I believe these responses aremissing a some main points to this discussion;
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Not everyone can dedicate lots of time to the game. Who wants to spend the little time they have available sitting in a starport or cantina hopeing someone needs training (that's not what makes this game enjoyable)
-It was much easier to get AXP in the firstweeks of game release. I see a large percentage less training requests now than I did at that time.
-I am a scout for example and don't really desire other higher professions. So why should anyone be forced to learn something else just to train and master their wanted profession.
- I decided to follow what I read here last night and sat in various cantina's / starports / Med Centersfor3-4 hours last night. You know what? I saw one (yes 1) request for training and it was for Business I which I don't even have (Once again, I ammainly apure scout)
- If I do see training requests, a large majority of them are for higher level professions

Nocrau,
Once again, that may well be the case in some instances. But I have to tell you, I started trying to get XPwhen startinglevel III scout skillsand the first 400 or so was fine... now the last170 AXPI needhas been a nightmare to complete. Something had to change in that timeframe... I am still assuming it is lack of newer players, etc....
Chekula
I agree with you.I do believe that the lack of 'new blood' seriously impacts the players up-n-coming now. Perhaps I should have expanded on my point to include that as well.
I guess my point was that many players wait till they need 300, 400 even 500 AXP before bothering to train anyone. The waiting, along with the lack of new players will have a dramatic impact.
I think it is a valid long-term concern with only one character per server. In most other games people routinely start new chars to try out other classes, but that is limited here. Time will tell.
That said, I'm currently maxed out on AP. I almost regret training people now, since that AP is just wasted. You can do it without standing around alot though. Just have some in-demand skills (like scouting or pistol) even if you plan to give them up later, play on some of the lesser-populated planets like Rori or Talus, and put your title up so that people can search for you when they need training. I would have >2000 AP now if it wasn't capped, and that's without spending a single minute standing around shouting "Training XXXX Here".
Chekula has pretty much nailed my problem.
It is true that I only just now started worrying about AXP, but that's mostly because a) I didn't previously understand it orit's importance and b) I recently changed directions for my character, and my previous plans didn't involve mastering any basic professions.
Despite that, however, I have trained everyone who's ever asked me for training, if I had the skills to provide it. In doing so, I have trained a total of 3 people in the course of the game. I'm a casual player who's advancing slowly, and it seems I have rarely encountered people who needed my skills. I do have limited play time, and I enjoy spending it exploring (hence my new love of the Scout profession), rather than hanging out in populated areas hoping for training opportunities.
So, part of the problem is my playstyle. I get that. I just sort of feel disappointed that the game doesn't accomodate my playstyle in this respect - especially when my playstyle fits so nicely with the scout profession - I love going into the wilds and exploring and hunting and discovering. Andyet I can't master this wonderful profession by engaging in the profession.
I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I just don't want to devote myself to finding AXP. So, I expect I'll continue to play the way I enjoy andstall under Master Scout, advancing my combat skills in the meantime. Eventually,I'll get my AXP and be able to proceed to Ranger (my goal). Oh well. There are worse problems with the game.

Guys,
I know its a pain - but don't worry. Like Mad said, you'll get the AXP you need eventually.
It may be worth it to take an hour or two and just hang out by the starport and train people who need it. I may not be the most fun thing to do, but it's the best way to get the AXP you need.
Good luck, I hope to see both of you in the Master Scout clubhouse soon.

Ani (aww...how cute...I feel like Padme),
Nope -AXP is only gained through teaching folks.

You know whatmy real problem is? I love scouting too darn much.
I didn't start my character as a scout, and sort of backed into it inadvertantly. And to my surprise, traveling the wilds, hunting, camping, and trapping is the most fun I've had all game.I can't wait to get online and do more of it. I've just begun to be able to solo my first larger "red" cons (himbabas on Corellia - not big by most people's standards I'm sure, but satisfying for the young hunter just the same).
If scouting weren't so darn addictive, maybe I'd be spending more time in town getting AXP. ![]()
My complaints always sound worse in print than they are in practice anyway. Thanks for everyone's comments. I'll get to the clubhouse in due time.

I have a question, can faction points be traded for AP points, I know that they can be traded for every other type of skill, but not sure about AP.
Faction points can be used to advance through profession skill trees?

"Hate to say it, cuz you loner types will just freak out - but pick up some entertainer skill, head to a cantina and dance/play a couple of days a week."
As a loner type, this actually isn't a bad idea.I wasthinking about becoming a novice entertainer any way(musician, NOT dancer--hey, I'm no girl) to be able to heal mind wounds in camp. Spending a little time in a cantina might be a good way to grind AXP as well.
