Thread: Help With Trapping
Captain,
FYI - I'm a squad leader too, and I have groups every night.
Change up your tactics. If you want help, we've given it. If you can't use the advice that's been enough to get dozens of other players to Master Scout, so be it.
Trapping, if anything, is overpowered, not underpowered.

No need to get rude about it, I'm just seeking help. The poster above me offered direct advice, which is what I was looking for. All of the general techniques I've already figured out on my own - the common sense.
As far as your great success with groups, good! It's not like that on my server, unforunately (could just be my planet).
And finally, never said trapping was underpowered ... I said that I only have time to throw two-four traps on a blue or white before I have to kill it because I'm already almost dead.
Brektur :
I have level 2 in all pistoleer skills, that's not the problem.
And on your second post, no I am using it on krettles to bantha's and it's all entirely too slow, too hard, and all the mobs tear through me.
Aebous :
The only place on Tatooine on my server this is going to work is the Tusken Fort which is 24/7 camped with at least 30-40 people. The mobs are up for maybe 5 seconds at best, which gives me one chance to throw a trap. So that's not the solution either.
DeltaXi65 :
1.) It really shouldn't be about me having to find a group to trap a creature. When hunting, people don't have to have others to hunt. I'm really not too thrilled about the idea of going spending the insane amount of time on Tatooine to find a group when I'm just trying to powerskill trapping.
2.) Didn't know about the cycling time, will keep that in mind.
3). I make enough to become encumbered when I go out, another thing I'm already ahead of the game on.
>"Trapping is absolutely, 100% and without a doubt the easiest skill to master in the Scout tree."
Maybe for you, heh. I could get any of the other trees from III-IV before I can get trapping from II-III.
>"As a squad leader you are in a unique and easier situation, as you'll have people begging you to take them out in groups."
Now that is an incorrect statement. Perhaps you don't really know the effect of the Squad Leader class, how most of the abilities don't work, and how there is little difference to having a Squad Leader in a group to one without one. Squad Leaders spend 99% of their time just trying to find a group, then the other 1% begging for the current leader to /makeleader him.
I think you may have misunderstood above.
I do the same pick a green or blue creature.
Then throw one of each type of trap straight away. The game only prevents two traps of the same type affecting a creature.
I found with chitin armour and using just novice brawler skill you can make trap exp insanely fast by doing this.
The more levels you get the more traps you can make and the more exp per monster. At expert level you should be getting 500 trap exp per white and by the time it gets to you one swift kick in the head kills it.
Cap,
Sorry about the last post - was getting frustrated.
I'm glad that you were able to visit our little garden spot.
I wish that I could give you the location of what we used to call "Spider Central" - it was a spot outside Naboo where there were constant spider spawns, on the minute - like Old Faithful, but the nerf bat smacked 'em Sunday morning.
If you are going to be around Naboo very often, get down to Moenia. The route between Moenia and the Emperor's Retreat is a VERY common spot for Nightspider lairs, and you'll get more trapping XP than you can shake a stick it.
By the way - I'm halfway through my first box of Squad Leader XP. WOW. I thought WE had it rough with survival!

Kaadu on Naboo have been helping me grind out Trapping III and IV the last day or so. I generally have my probot tank, then hit the Kaadu with about 15 wire mesh traps which grant between 105 and 125 trapping XP per hit. I gained about 15,000 trapping XP in 2 hours doing this. Again, the only downside is the length of time it takes for my Probe Droid to regenerate.
A good tip that I haven't seen here is to use Wire Mesh traps on low-level creatures like Nightspiders, Gnorts or Worrts. Seems like you can keep using them over and over, getting trapping XP for each hit, and then kill the mob when it gets too close. If you have Warning Shot, use that, then trap, then repeat warning shot. This works great on Ikopi. (Not Mountain Ikopi though, they swarm) ![]()

V to the rescue.
Craft 10 Wire Mesh Traps. Put all traps on an empty toolbar.
Travel to Mos Taike / Bestine / Anchorhead / Wayfar and look around in the desert for a nest with Bull Bantha's/Baby Bantha's and a single Bantha Matriarch. Kill a baby and you lure a Bantha Matriarch.Hit her with 1 shot and start running towards a hill. Once at the bottom of the hill start throwing traps while you run uphill.
268 exp each time the trap lands, once you get on top of the hill lead the Bantha downhill and start all over.No need to burst run just make sure to keep your distance.
If you're a Master Scout/Novice Rangeryou can also use an Adhesive Mesh trap. Trap it with a adhesive and with bit of luck you root the Bantha for a full minute. Stand still and toss all those Wire Mesh Traps at her untill she unroots, throw a new Adhesive and again with some luck you'll root the Bantha for another minute.
Some Tips:
- If you're tired/out of action/mind or you're out of traps and don't have Burst Run left just let it follow you away from the nest for a minute and it will despawn if it's too far from it's nest.
- If you're in time run back to the nest and harvest the baby. These Bantha's are not agro so no danger what so ever.
- Make sure to set out a safe route towards the hill you're gonna use.
- Why a Bantha Matriarch? It's the highest level Bantha I've found and they're smaller then normal Bantha's and slow as a snail. If you got the firepower kill her for 2500+ exp/250+ combat.
Maybe everyone allready knows this but I thought I'd mention anyway. It helped me getting the exp needed for Master Trapper with ease.
