Thanks for the info about the wire mesh traps stacking. I was impressed with noisemakers until I realized they didn't stack. Wire mesh all the way.

I have to ask the question, what do you know about Scouting. I will be asking the same about Ranger when you start your posts there.

What traps work best on which critters? What doesn't work on what animals? Which animals drop what, without referring to an outside source? Can you tell me the resists on anything? What creatures BAF and which ones don't?

Thought not.

No one is impressed you made Master in one day, anyone can grind it.

Deadbeat99, if you this is representative of of JBMat flaming, think again. Look up some of his other messages, he can be very nasty. In any case I don't view this as a flame at all, it's not inflamatory (in my opinion) and JB does bring up some valid points.

Sure, someone might have the in game rank of scout, but that doesn't mean they know much about the profession.Ask yourself this, who's information about scouting issues like harvesting rates, trapping combos, and maskscent effectiveness; someone who mastered it in a day, or someone who took two months? That extra time can really make a difference on how well the PLAYER understands how to play a scout, even though it doesn't make a whit of difference as far as skill modifers.

I suppose if your grinding your way toa Fett-wannabe or are insearch of of Jedi-hood you wouldn't care. I'm fine with that so long as you don't pretend to know as much as someone who has been a scout for far longer (like from thelaunch).

Guys,

Cool it.

JB is well known for his antipathy to hologrinders. He gets a bit out of hand sometimes, but his point (albeit blunt) is valid.

Now let's move on to other, more important and substantive issues. Name calling on either side gets us nowhere.

There can be some valid reasons to grind Scout or Ranger. I left Ranger back in December or so to try some other professions (I only ever used one holo and that was to help me decide what to do next--I only followed it because I wanted to do it anyway). After having mastered 12 professions, I felt like going back to Ranger. Not wanting to spend several months doing it (like I did the first time--while we used to get generalcrafting xp), I tried to do it as quickly as I could. So I went Rancor hunting with a friend. In one day, I managed to do all of Ranger. And I saved on a bit of the survival xp by making camps in the downtime. But, the fact is, I can answer most of those questions with a great deal of accuracy (you might find some of my answers are the pre-creature change ones but I can't help that they've all changed). And that's a big part of the reason I was able to master it in a day. And even have one of the most fun hunts I've had in a long time (let's just say that Jedi are actually a LOT more powerful than rifleman, especially when fighting rancors).

While he could have asked nicely, JB's point is valid. You say you're not a holo-grinder, and technically you're not unless a holo sai d Ranger or Bounty Hunter. But why on earth would you WANT to go Scout/Ranger when you coudn't care less about the profession? I can tell ya, if you don't take some pride in knowing where to go to find those 33K HAM malkloc plainswalkers on Dathomir, you really shouldn't go Ranger, because there's realy not that much more to it. If you don't care about Scout, you're gonna be very dissapointed when 140 points are spent on just that.
Untill you can take me to therockcollumns on the southeast deserts of Dathomir without zig-zagging to cover terrain, you're not gonna be very welcome with the rest of us Rangers.
