Jeez - I let you all have one thread to yourselves and you get all pissy in it.
TN skill tapes do work, even if you don't have the skill. I have a non-Scout char (heaven forbid) on another server with a pike that has a +13 TN mod on it, and he gets the boost.
As JB said, though, if it requires a skill to use - like healing - you won't get that skill, so the mod is useless. However, things like TN, Defense vs. X, etc. all work, even if you don't have that mod from a skill tree.

I mean, I know you like defending JB and all (not that he needs it) but you can't automatically take his side.I think those riceballs Hakai stuffed down your throat to sanatize you are having some lingering side-effects.
He's wrong about the passive skill tapes, which I said.
He's right about the ones that require a skill - like /healdamage - which is what I was saying. So he's not all wrong.
I was agreeing with you, while trying to soften the blow for him.
THANKS FOR BLOWING IT.

Ok, so y'all are saying that passive skills are effected by skill tapes. I get enough skill tapes and I can start to kick ass even without the underlying skill set? Cool.
So I reckon that even without many of the defense mods, I can get skill tapes, hang them on my boots.jacket, shirt, pants, and get the mods? So if I mod the living hell out of my clothes, and I can, I can be pretty defense mod'd out.
Now active skills, anything I must activate with a command, doesn't count.
So, if I understand right... if a person with no Dodge hangs enough tapes on his clothes, he gets up to +25 dodge? Not that I don't have a ton of money lying around, I do. Guess I will waste some on finding passive skills that help in defense and mod up. Sounds like stacking, but without having to pay for the skills with points.
whatever,,, hope this works, I am tired of being hit by meleers.

JB get your hands on a melee def shirt. This will go under your armor, for those odd times when you wear it, and give you +4 melee def/+15is def vs stun. If you want to make an outfit with the most melee def bonus go with a shirt, reinforced jacket, camo pants. Then either get a bandolier with another melee def bonus or get your hands on one of the loot backpacks with +3 Melee/Ranged def. These are all BE Clothing and dont even take into account tapes. So if you do it right your looking at +15 melee def/+25 def vs stun with no skill point investment. You could trade in one of the pieces of melee def for a combat defense vs bleeding +18 as well.
When i hunt on Yavin I go one of two ways depending on the game im hunting. I wear
+4 melee def/+18 def vs stun formfitting shirt
+4 melee def/+18 def vs stun reinforced jacket
+4 melee def/+18 def vs stun camo pants
Lightweight military backback +3 melee/ranged def
If im fighting bleeders i'll swap the pants out for my +18 def vs bleeding pants
Also if you have any medic abilities get some medic wound healing BE pieces in the clothing as well. These use a differnt component then the melee def ones so you can have both in one piece of clothing. Normally buffers get this to boost there buffs but it is what its called and will help your wound healing in the field.
Also look into Vegesparine which is a 27 filling food, not drink, that made by a master be/master chef will add +25 to your melee def for 17 minutes.
I know you like to fight unbuffed like i do. And i believe your still a rifleman. So think about a food/drink combo of 2 brandy's, 2 ahrissas, 1 vegesparine.

That's exactly it.
I've got a bunch of skill tapes on clothing that I wear for skills my uber TK/SL template doesn't give me. And they all work to keep my butt up.

Sorry Fodder
I wear a Field Agent pack, the suggested +4/+17 shirt, but my pants are bleed defense, and the jacket is +17camp/maskscent. My boots are nothing...dumb boots.
I may switch out the bleed defense next go round on clothes. We shall see
JB
So if I wear a +1 Group TN... does everyone run faster?? Group TN is passive

I'm an SL/TK.
If I don't have a doc watching my sexy ass, it goes down, no matter how many skill tapes I've got on.

Drop the bleed defense - it's busted.
Group TN should work if you're the group leader, oddly enough.
