Quit making fun of people's accents.

Being multi-accented - grew up in New England (southern, any further south and you were swimming), went to school in New Jersey, then lived primarily in the South as Uncle Sam kept sending me there and still sorta stuck there - I can use those three virtually at will. My poor wife is stuck with her "no accent" from Idaho although she does exhibit signs of a Southern accent at times ("How can y'all eat grits ?)

I'm kind of in the same boat as you JB.However, Igrew-upin theKansas City, MO so my "native tongue" is a flatAmerican English, and often visited myextended familyin Milwaukee, WI. I am goingto college(almost past tense thank goodness) in the gritty rust-belt ofFlint, MI. My cooperative education(like an internship only with pay and benefits), and soon to be full time employer,is in Huntsville, AL. I can't say that I can do all those accents perfectly, but I can manage to at least make themrecongizable.

Back to the beginning of this degression... I perfer "soda" over "pop", both because that's what my family used and the word"soda" has chemical/alchemical roots to it ("pop" is just a caseonomatopoeia). But as long as each part can understand the other, things like that are trival matters.

I used to be a MSwordsman/MRanger back in the old pre-cu days. Had to leave SWG do to some major real life probs.

I still remember wandering around Tat,babbling to myself incoherently after the 100th tell asking me ifI could "please find the moisture farmer for me...I'll pay you 20K".

What was worse,I had no problem finding the hero quest pirates for people...but it took me over a week to do it for myself...was so embarassed thatI went out and slaughtered every kreetleI saw for 3 days.

I miss not having kreetles attack me on sight anymore. I had alot of respect for them suicidal insects.

depends on where you're from in Cali. do you say dude or duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude? Do you find yourself being drawn to say the word radical? If so, they you likely have a Surfer Accent.

Do you speak in tight, short sentances? Do you notice the snobby tone you take on in front of people who are "lower" than you? Do you use the word "darling" excessively? If so then you likely have a Hollywood accent.

those are the only two Cali accents I know of.

I was thinking more of a Chinese/British accent sneaking in...

I definitely talk like some of the folks around here though, I don't think I've ever used "oh my god" until I moved to the central coast O.o

question is-- do you speak Valley?

I myself and fairly fluent in multiple dialects. Born in Missourah (Missouri), lived in New York, near Boston (Bahston), in Georgia (Jorgiah), Vermont, and Wyoming in the 22 years I've been on this planet. I speak southern, Bostonian, New Yorker, and the generic "American" accent.
