Thread: Feedback on the scout correspondent issues
My advice would be to not get too hung up on it. I've cleaned a deer in real life. With 3 people working together it takes hours. The game is already unrealistic because it harvests instantly, in the field, even if you don't have so much as a knife in your pocket. I for one wouldn't want to have to drag my prey for hours back to town, hang it up, and watch as my character spent the rest of the evening harvesting 1 scrawny hide. Eventually, you have to accept the fact that lots of things have to be unrealistic for the purposes of making the game a fun game.
Besides, nobody ever marketed the game as a simulation
This one, I've had stuff warping to me and my groups for weeks now, since I am at work I have no clue if it has been stealthed into gameover last 2 days (since I haven't had chance to play)or will be in near future?
- The base equation for mask scent has changed. You are now much much more likely to successfully mask scent against a creature. The base chance to succeed has been improved by as much as 40%. This is the most significant change to the entire system. You should now be able to run past groups of monsters with a high chance of not being attacked.
- The chance to successfully mask scent is now modified by your posture and locomotion. If you are prone (moving or not), you get a 15% bonus. If you are running, you get a 10% penalty. If you are walking, you get a 5% penalty.
- The chance to successfully mask scent is also modified by the level of the creature compared to your Mask Scent skill mod. A scout with Exploration II will have a hard time sneaking past a Rancor, but a master scout will hardly ever fail. Scouts with Exploration IV, with the intention of using Mask Scent for Creature Handling will also have good success rates against tough creatures (although the Master Scout will always be better).
Bob,
All of those things are currently the top of my list to get looked at. We don't have an ETA yet.

I am not a "scout". I am almost a Master Doctor. But I am a Bothan, and I do have exploration 4. I chose this race and exploration 4 as I like to explore, and it really helps me in my search for resources. Basically, its fits my character conception as a "wilderness doctor".
I am concerned that you have made the Bothan racial bonus basically useless unless they choose to be a Ranger.
I would much rather see you change the Bothan racial bonus to "Mask Scent", if the plan is to move the camoflage skill to the Ranger tree. That way all Bothans can at least benefit from their racial bonus in a starting profession, instead of having to go to an elite profession.
Please consider this.
I am a Zabrak Scout, i did not choose my race for its abilities, BUTi do think that the bothas should should get a bouns to maskscent not the camo skill in ranger, as the above poster stated it does not make sense in the least, Esp since the botha would be better and sneaking around those stinking animals instead of those stinking humans(maulers)
Xyber,
As far as I am aware, it is the intentions of the Devs that Bothans get a +5 modifier to Mask Scent and a + 15 modifier to camo.
So they're supposed to ge taken care of. Can any Bothans confirm this?
