Thread: Easy scout XP
hey guys i am a Rifle, pistol, and ranged weapon specialist. I am currently working on creature handeler. i have exploration 4 and am working on hunting 3. I have been on tatooine working on this for so long and can not see to get it very fast at all. I have tried mask sceant SOOOOOOOOOOO many times and it has only worked 1 TIME!!!!!!! I would greatly appreaciate it if yall could maybe post some good planets to get some GOOD scouting XP that easy to come bye and some tactics to the mask sceant. ty very much
Ser,
I could tell right away that we had a Creature Handler on our hands. ![]()
(One of these days, they're going to come over here and slap me around...)
The only easy way - for a fairly skilled player like yourself - is to get in a group and hit the largest creatures. This is the absolute, best and fastest way to level. If you are the only scout in a large group doing Fambaas, you can geta lot of Scout XP quickly. If you are solo, hit nests of creatures you can kill with one shot and keep doing it over and over. That'll add up fast.
Don't use mask scent as means to level. It wasn't meant for that, and it will only frustrate you. For good maskscent XP, try Lok or Dathomir.
But above all else - take your time and enjoy Scouting. You'll enjoy it much more after King Kong sized nerf you can expect tomorrow on the CHs.

A couple comments on maskscent. (From my limited experience.)
1. Don't have it on around non-agressive creatures. They always seem to sniff you out. Then it takes 60 seconds to re-enable it. (Use /maskscent a second time to turn it off).
2. It doesn't work on people. (People covers most bi-pedal creatures).
I've had it work for me on Talus on the Kettemor server many times. My problem is that the agressive creatures will mutilate my poor corpse if they find me. I've usually seen 80-150 scouting XP for each creature I was able to go undetected past.
Not,
You're right.
Hopefully the first one will be changing soon - one of my main requests is to remove the ability of yellows to break maskscent.

I've also found that the weapon makes all the difference. There are a lot of mobs that offer decent xp, yet die fast if you have a laser rifle/laser carbine/scout blaster. Do not make the common mistake of valuing quantity over speed. If you can one-shot a critter that gives 50 scout xp, then that's 50 scout xp per shot. It doesn't sound like much, but spend a couple of minutes on a lair and it adds up fast. It takes me maybe 15 seconds to kill 5 Kreetles for 100+ scout xp compared to less than 200 for 30+ seconds of killing a Bantha. Add up the xp per minute and the choice seems pretty clear; but it's hard to see that when you you're getting 20xp for a Kreetle and 150+ for a Bantha. Remember, it's not just the reward per creature killed; it's also how fast you can kill them. One of my favorite tactics is to take a high difficulty destroy mission on a Kreetle lair. I hit the lair a few times, and 5 or 6 Kreetles charge me. With a scout blaster and point blank area1, I can kill them all in a shot or two. It doesn't get much easier than that. The downside to my method is that I don't get much trap xp, because throwing a trap means slower killing for me.
It's also about finding the right mobs to kill. Dune Banthas have 4x the HAM of Feral Banthas (and thus takes 4x as long to kill), but give the same xp. My mantra is: Kill Stuff Fast. Find the right balance of speed and difficulty and the xp rolls in. Depending on your weapon, there's plenty of stuff that gives 50+ scout xp that you can kill in one shot. Scyks give me 101 scout xp per kill, and I can usually one-shot them with a high quality laser rifle.
Trapping was the first set of skills I completed. Hermit spiders were giving out the best xp for me. I would throw 6 traps and then kill them in 1 shot with my Scout Blaster. The second set of skills I completed was survival. I don't understand why so many players complain that it takes so long to complete. I actually love the change of space. I get 2 missions and set up a camp after each one is completed. I then spend the 30 minutes required to craft more camps, more traps, and survey for resources. You can take a little break... And sometimes people with visit your camp and you can then chat for a while.
And now that trapand survival aremaxed I don't even bother using traps at all. I get gnorrt, flewt, ikopi, nightspiders or hermit spiders ( I prefer hermit spiders ) missions and complete the missions in 5-10 minutes and then move on to the next mission. My scouting skill is going up fast.
Hey guys thank youfor the great posts' i really appreaciate it. well this morning i decided i would go to naboo because i heard it had great scout XP. well i got there and the things are either green or blue or yellow or red. so i was walking around theed shooting ANYTHING that came in sight and harvsting (this is where i was informed of the HARVEST macro which came in good hands. Plus on the 6-42 xp i have a very small chance of getting hit, 1 200xp is definantly gonna hit me unless i burst run and kill some
1.look...the only reason i am a scout is so that is can get a couple of skills to help me in the wilderness. I also got it so that i can become a creature handler. All i really need is 17,500 scout XP and i need it rather quickly. i dont care what i have to do as long as i dont have to spend another 3+ hours on this stupid scouting XP...it is driving me mad![]()
