I am almost a master scout on Chilastra server, Rori, and I have a question.I am currently decked out in full Chitin armor. I have Explore IV, ShouldI not be wearing Chitin gear for fear it may affect my mask scent ability and other abilities? What is everyone else wearing? Any suggestiosn will be very much appreciated. thank you.

Utku,

Chitin won't affect maskscent, but it will hurt your regen rates.

I keep a set of chitin in my backpack for emergencies, but 90% of the time I go armorless.

I generally don't use armor when out in the wilderness because it seems more of a bane then anything else. However I do also keep a set of chitin at my house when I have to run a faction mission. Plus I can't truly justify my character wearing armor all the time due to the fact that you don't see everyone in the movies wearing it. But then again each to his own.

Best armor is good looking clothes.

I only wear a gunman duster and a plain shirt.
The duster cost me 3000 K
But it is stylish as hell.
I prefer clothes, no need for armor.
If I found the mandalorian, I would sell it

The ONLY time I use armor is when I am up against blasters. Even then I only have Bone helm, chest, boots and a left bracer. There is just too much HAM cost for armor right now...

Like the weapons, different armor is for different applications. As a scout against animals... armorjust costs too much precious HAM.

This has pretty much been my experience as well. I prefer to go without armor most of the time.

I do have a bone helm (and will prolly upgrade it) for when I know I am going to be going up against blasters, but against mobs, the armor out there now just doesn't seem to help enough.

A question for you tailors out there though: I've heard (and the skill tree sorta implies it) that there are tailored clothes that also offer armor qualities. Is this true to your knowledge, or is it only the actual armor that this applies to. I would think that if you have armor-like clothes, that they might have a lower HAM cost (offering less protection as well of course) and so might be worth checking out.

I guess it depends a bit on the Armorsmith, materials used (read server), and the type of armor you're using against the type of monster you're fighting. While not the prettiest thing on the planet the Mabari armor I use when fighting large mobs has saved my butt a number of times.

Generally, I wear a breast-plate and leggings, maybe a helmet. All the armor seems about as bad as the others--too much cost in the secondary skills (I bought a set of Chitin once and put it on, and looked at my stats only to realise my quickness and strength were both around 50!). I guess the lesson the DEVs are trying to teach us is that this is not an "armor up" game.

is all sounds fine for Melee pve, but what happens when you come up against the blaster or rnaged combat?

Are you thinking that you can take out most of your targets before they get to you?

Well, the post was asking about Scouts, and in general, most critters a "Scout" is going to take on do not use ranged weapons (seems like only the already outrageously tough critters spit at you anyway), so if you want to know what kind of armor a scout should wear, I'd say, very little.

I just use basic coverings for bad weather purposes, but then again, most armor (if not all) doesn't fit my big Wookie behind. As well, I believe Scouts should not use much protection to promote ease of movement and evasion. A Scout to me would be stealthy and if attack is needed, would strike quickly and silently, limiting need for retaliation defense (hence less armor needed).

But to each his own... of course...
