Thread: Concept: Uncharted territory?
i keep on hearing things about how we don't really have much extra perks by being scouts. So i was just thinking....remeber way back when, when all of the elite planets were pretty much inaccessable?
no vehicles meant that a 6K m trek would takean hour, and with no cities except for the small outposts, all of it was empty, blazingly red territory.
I was just wondering, what if for once we could get a planet that was COMPLETELY unexplored? as in completely blackened out planetary map. If you have ever played almost any RTS game, you realize taht there is a fog of war (everything is black until you explore it).
What i am wondering about, how would you guys like it if we were allowed a pathfinder ability. Not tracking (that is a ranger skill) but to be actually able to "explore" the planet and log your discoveries into a planetary map.
Now i know what you're saying, it would get completely boring in a month or so......but what if every month the topography was randomly changed, so that nothig would be familiar? Make it so that there are locations to find, and loot to get if you're the first one to discover it (to eliminate loot camping).
Actually im not sure if even I agree with this idea wholeheartedly. but what better way to be a scout thatn to get a completely untamed planet (no cities....and vehicles useable only in certain areas labeled as trails) and let us actually explore it and get perks for doing so. Maybe give a cash prize to the person who did the most exploration on foot, or the most harvesting in the first two hour period.... i really dont' know.
Lets just play with this idea and pretend we're masters of the wilderness.
*shrug*
Guys,
We've talked about this before. It may be something that we could ask for in the Space Expansion.
However, I find it difficult to believe that in Star Wars time that we can have a super dooper radar/waypoint system, but can't scan a planet for a map. ![]()

hehehe....then we find a system to eliminate creating waypoints without being at the specific spot first......at least for that planet...and minimize a scope to 64m......say it's electromagnetic interference.
*grin*
this is fantasy land here.lol
and in this case, give us Macrobinoculars.......lets you see up to 125m away.....heheheh
would definately give us a lot o interesting situations. If you don't like it...dont' go to the planet.....just like if i don't wanna die because of massive aggros ..i stay the heck away from the elite planets....lkol
I like the idea of elctro magnetic interference... I would like to see some sort of pathfinding. The rewards could be special organic resources to harvest or a great way to introduce new monsters into the wild....
I dont think the idea has any chance whatsoever of being seriously considered... but it would be cool if they found a way to do it and then did it...
heheheh. never said it would be viable....im just saying stuff that i think would be interesting in the long run.
How about if we become sensor specialists on starships? hehehehehe.
Ok, we can scan the planet and have a map.
But we can still go and find the things on the planet, like caves, spawn, grown over stuff, that the scan would miss.
Hey, I still stumble over stuff all the time in my wanderings. It's pretty cool to do so. This is a good idea and sounds like fun.
