Good afternoon.
I created a scout thinking I had to master it before I moved to bounty hunter. After reading the splash screen I found out you only need to get Exploration IV out of Scout and master marksman. That being said - and I'm new, I started Exploration 2 nights ago and just learned Exploration I - woohoo. Just by killing some of the local mobs and harvesting them.
Exploration 2 looks like it needs 5000 more points. All good - however, killing the local mobs seems to take a lot of kills. I'm all for doing the time and killing, but should I be moving to harder or larger creatures to harvest more? It seems that you gain exp in this line by harvesting. And the larger the mob, I'm guessing you get more things...
My question - sorry if this is long. But is there a recommended way of doing this or any hints? So far I only have novice scout and exploration 1. I'm afraid that if I try a harder mob I'll get my butt handed to me. No armor yet and still using the base pistol with no training. Seems I miss more. Some local guy blasted 3 mobs chasing me when I failed to do a quest and ran back into town
The lair and the creatures that live there didn't like my pee shooter I guess and almost had their way with me. Not sure who blasted them- but thanks /wave
Fun game though.

Earth to Brisc -
time for a new stickie - tell the BHs how to master the one whole tree they have to master now.
Use small words. Simple terms. Mayhaps a cartoon format would be good.
JB
why won't they go away??? BHs are related to rasps and kreetles

I was hoping to find the code for flashing red type for the stickies to help out. But if your completly new explore points do sound different then standard harvesting points

Not to sound harsh, but if they to look at the in-game skill window the confusion should clear up on it's own. Under both the Harvesting and Exploration branches it clearly says "Scout Experience". While I do like to be helpful and supportive of others, especially people new to the profession or even game, this doesn't seem to be germane to the original post. The way he asked makes it probable he's looked at the Scout skill window before.

you know, im starting to think we need to have a "force" meter to indicate our alignments.....
on the dark side you'd see JB, in the middle is probably Brisc (thought i think he's falling to the dark side if you ask me :smileytongue
and on the light is.......well dang, i think none of us are adamant enough for that. ![]()

Personally, I see most of my posts as "chaotic good" or at least "chaotic good-natured ribbing".

Wow - all I did was ask what I thought was a resonable question. Sorry to irratate everyone.
I have the prima guide so I've looked through some of the info it provides. I've also looked through some of these forums. I'm not looking for a exact guide, but just a tip or two to get me started. I don't want anything handed to me, trust me. I did not have a clear idea of exp'ing up exploration and marksman at the same time - as they indicate they are two seperate professions.
With some of the eariler comments, I was about to look into it much more tonight during the couople hours I played. I actually finished up exploration 2 tonight and halfway through marksman 3. I found the trainers later tonight and was able to get that complete. 1000 credit each seems a bit high - but whatever works.

Its harvesting points. Go hook up with a hunting group and just harvest from it. You'll get the points faster that way

In the beginning only Harvesting gives scouting xp, do that until you get Exploration II. At Exploration II you get a new Ability, Maskscent which "hides" you from creatures. When an aggressive creature (red dot on radar, or red name in view) does not sense you you also get scouting xp. Maskscent works even if your riding your vehicle or mount, as long as you turn it on prior to entering mounting.
On my latest toon on a new server I did the newbie quests for cash, and harvested around the newbie critters till I got Exploration II, then used the free ticket to go to advanced planet. I used the scentmask and rental speeder to zip around to gain scout xps FAST, and gottipped to boot from people earning Apprenticship Points from teaching me.

Chaotic neutral - screw you if it benefits me - unless I like you, then I will move you out of the way to benefit myself. Unless you are a friend, then I will share.
But the principal of what do I get out of this often, not always, is the rule.
Yes I donate to noobs - keeps people guessing.
I just don't have to be nice to BHs. They got a problem with that, they can find me - oh no, wait, they can't...lol. But I can find them.

Sad,
Don't mind the BH haters. With the changes, there are fewer for them to Maul. *Throws JB and Hakai a riceball*.
The prima guide is great - if you run out of toilet paper. It's woefully out of date. The guides that folks have written in the forums are much, much better.
To be honest - the absolut fastest way to get through exploration is to find a group out on Dathomir hunting enraged rancors, or a group on Lok hunting Kimogilas. You can blow through the XP out there. In addition, it's also much, much cheaper to find another player who needs apprenticeship points to train you than going to the NPC trainer. It helps them level and it's much cheaper for you.
