How close are you getting before you throw?
I was having the same kind of trouble.
Does this senerio sound fimiliar?
I would crawl within 20m meters of a kahmurra, throw a trap, boom, it would go off, it would miss, the kahmurra would charge and prdictably stomp MHB into the ground.
After numerous instances of collecing hoof prints instead of xp's, I built a camp, sat down, stared into the fire and comtenplated the sage advice of my mentor Dutton of Christchurch. "Doing the same old thing in the same old way expecting a different result, the very definition of irrationality is" (steeped in the force is he).
Hmmm
A change in tactics seemd to be in order. Here's what worked for me.
Stalk and isolate a herbivore (teath & claws rack up dp's & wp's a whole lot faster).
Get to 40 m from the target. Throw, shoot, throw, shoot, throw shoot ..... until on of us goes down.
It's been working quite well for me. I've been averaging 150 xp in exchange for 15-20 wp' per encounter.
A whole lot better than before.
Hope this helps.

Get in the range of approximately 30 meters (half the map on the 64 m radar), and throw Lecetephamine Darts. Turn around, run, peace, repeat. I've been kiting same red mob using this a couple of days ago got to Trapping IV in about 3.5 hours or so.

It depends on what level creature it is. If they are level 30 creatures... I can't remember atm, add up the trapping points at the bottom starting at novice scout, each point is a level I believe.

A good trap droid (90+) can add 10 levels or so to what you can hit. Plus they are nice for leveling that tree since you can throw traps without interrupting your fighting.
Get an advanced R3 with alteast one combat module though, the droid can single pull creatures if you have him open up with a trap throw but without the combat module he will run off when the creature attacks.

Dantooine is pretty much a mid-level planet. I'd say if you had trapping 3 of the scout tree, you could trap the lower level creatures like Bols, Pikets, Huurtons.

That is a good idea, but I went on mountain dewbacks on Tatooine, only 1 aggroed me at a time I believe and they don't DB. I threw them untill I was incapped, then healed, then threw more. I made sure not to incap 3 times in 10 minutes though, or else you will die. If you let yourself naturally heal, that should take up 10 minutes. But it is quicker with buffs on Dantooine, and helpful if you need weapons xp too.

While your healing, drop a camp, heal faster, get wilderness XP!

Impossible, unless you're willing to gather trapping xp at 1xp per kill. You WILL need to get rid of combat boxes, to bring your CL down to match your trapping modifier. That's the only current way, other than respec, to do trapping.

To elaborate a bit, your trapping mod is too low to be able to trap a CL 80 mob. Your CL is too high to get more than 1xp from trapping a low CL mob. See the problem? Currently, your only choices are to drop your CL down to where you are getting good xp from the mobs you can actually tap or to respec. You might want to hold tight for a bit, as we were told trapping xp is broken, and there is a fix in the works.
