I'm a big fan of Holo, and would generally stick up/support him.

However, messing up an essential skill (some would call it profession defining) without warning or forethought is disappointing enough. Promising to post abouta solution, then not doing so is really pushing it.

Pick up your game mate.

I was rather disapointed as well, not seeing a post from him here.

As a side note as long as we are talking about broken abilities.Any of you who are planning on moving into ranger be aware that ranger traps do not work right now.

You can make them and you can throw them, but they do nothing, neither fail or suceed.

I would encourage you if you plan on becoming a ranger to voice your concern about ranger traps so it becomes noticable to the devs and fixed soon.

The more voices their are about a problem directly reflects the speed at which it gets addressed. That has been stated by the devs.

bump..

Its bad enought that thenerf had such a negative impact on the classes that need it, such as creature handler and BE. Now you promise to post an update in this forum and not deliver. To add insult to injury a 17+ page thread on the topic ran yesterday and you addressed this issue, in passing, in a thread regarding harvesters. If that is where you want us to go for information, prehaps to consolodate your responses, then let us know. All it takes is a floating threadregarding theissue, locked if you like, to serve as a sounding board. Good game (hopefully getting better), poor customer service, horrible communication.

going to have to agree.

There were what? 3 seperate dev-created threads on harvesters yesterday and multiple responses to other threads. Where was the "ok, now Scouts/BE/CH/Rngr, here is your 'consolidated thread' thread?"

This morning (10jul03) I found the "going to reply later to the /maskscent" comment and flipping around didn't find it. Nice CS guys. I'm not sure what got me more dissapointed, spending all that quality time with the harvester people (hey, I *had* a harvester once....once) or saying you were to address our issue (with smiley face attached to reply) and not coming through for this area of the 'community'.

I would love to see the old maskscent brought back with Xp reduction so that all the classes that got gimped could return to business-as-usual.

You guys don't see that they don't want us exploring at all? If they did, then Dev's wouldn't be posting coordinates for areas of interest on Naboo. It irritated me enough when someone posted a "Every special place in the Galaxy" thread in the Game Guide forums.

This is bad. Especially for those of us who are working their way toward becoming a Ranger.

I have overheard several in game conversations and various chat rooms that the Ranger and the Commando are not fully completed classes as of yet.

Should I continue on my quest to become a Ranger or should I just hold off and keep working on my goal of CH ??

Any thoughts ?

It would seem to me that this whole "/maskscent" situation my be an unofficial way for the devs to slow down the number of people that are playing a "not as yet fully finished" profession. If it worked as it did before many more people would be gaining enough xp to start playing the profession. I didn't even know how /maskscent worked until I heard people complaining about it here of late. I can see why it was so good before, when it actually works for me now I end up getting from 50-200 scout xp just for walking by a creature/s. But that is not very often. Oh well. Here's hoping that the "powers that be" will give us lowly scouts some attention and consideration too.

Guys,

I don't understand the level of angst here.

I'm a Master Scout, almost at Novice Ranger (took a break to congratulate myself and do some writing), and my maskscent strategy was more an afterthought than a means to make significant amounts of XP. Maskscent is nice, but I had more failures with it than successes, to the point where I ruled it irrelevant. It's nice to have when it works, butI didn't make it a key portion of my strategy to make Master Scout. Some may argue that the fact that it doesn't work consistently is a game flaw, and that's possible, but also keep in mind that you really aren't doing anything to gain that XP, just pushing a button and hoping to get lucky.

It is entirely possible to make it up through the Scout and Ranger ranks without using maskscent as a means to do so. It is slower, but its possible. I know, because I did it.

I've already voiced the hope that Holocron's update here will be to let us know that they will be making maskscent only usable against Red (aggressive) animals, and that it cannot be broken by Yellow (Docile) animals. That would solve, in my opinion, everyone's problem with the new timer.

As for Holo's not posting - I waited to see the message as well, but I'm patient. That's really what the problem here isn't it? The games been out for less than two weeks, my fellow Scouts. The fact that you aren't a Master Bounty Hunter yet isn't because the game "sucks" or because they don't want you to get to areas that haven't been developed yet - it's because if the game is too easy, or the goals are too easy to reach, what keeps you coming back to play? I like knowing that I'll be playing the game for a long time to reach the goals that I've set for myself. And I'm okay with that.

Just be patient and let the Dev's get to us. We're on the list- it's only a matter of time.

Personally I would not care if Maskscent gave no xp at all. I use Maskscent to explore and see the land. Also as a ranger, I use Maskscent to scout ahead and find new targets for the group to destroy. With the change to maskscent I would not have a problem with a 60second delay.. if agro (red) creatures were the only onese to brake it. Personally I find that non-agro (yellow) creatures are the ones to brake my maskscent 9 out of 10 times.

Also.. I have Wayfaring 2 atm.. when is maskscent supposed to work against humanoids? It says it will in Holocron.. but it does not at all.. every NPC humanoid sees through Maskscent.

Further on another topic there is a loading to world screen which stats that multiple scouts can extract different resources from the same creature.. This has never worked.. why is this information still in your published material?
