Thread: Mask Scent does not work at all now

If its not breaking, and they aren't attacking you, I don't understand how you can claim that its "broken".
How do you even know that it has anything to do with Maskscent?

Before they "fixed" it skittish monsters would not run from you because they did not see you. Now they do. test it yourself if you think I am making it up.
Also I have been attacked by reds numerous times with it on. It does not work anymore. Also don't you notice how easy ot breaks?

If you are using it, and you are detected, it can make the creature attack you. This was added as of the last big update three weeks or so ago.
Define "easily breaks"?
Are you basing this off of how easily it breaks compared to a week ago, or how easily it breaks compared to before the big patch three weeks ago?
While it is breaking more often than it did a week ago, that goes without saying - it was bugged and it was NEVER breaking, which was not how it was supposed to work.
I've had it break on me since the patch, but not so much that I find it completely useless and the reduction in the amount of time you need to reapply it (which I am proud to say was my idea.
) makes up for it breaking as often.
I'm really interested now in this issue - I'm starting to think that this may be the result of people who started playing after the big update...they may not remember how hard it was using Maskscent in the early days, and got used to it based on what it was after the big update.

I have upto Exploration IV and a Bothan (camo bonus) and my maskscent breaks way too easy. It breaks with just about any aggro mob even Kreetles.
I am also a CH and tried to tame a few things on LOK. A very large percent of the time at 64 m my maskscent instanta breaks even when prone and crawling. When the very small chance I manage to get to the little Flit or whatever I start my tame. If youre not familiar with taming, on the third command to tame the mob always flys or sprints away so you have to follow before it gets outta range. Since I have to walk/run to catch upto it, my maskscent breaks. So now, it literally is impossible to tame anything on any advanced planet for me.
I shouldn't have to be a ranger just to be able to tame aggro creatures. If Maskscent is supposedly working now, then CHs and BEs need to have master scout as prereq. But I dont think it is working correctly at all.
Maybe it's just how/maskscent is used and/or your level of experience. Ever since I started using it a couple weeks ago, I have had no problem with it. The only difference is that after the last patch, I now gain scout XP for using it. This thread confuses me....

Post-patch I have actually started to see maskscent work. I'm not a Master Scout yet (25K Scout XP to go!) so I don't expect to be walzing past nargalatches and sneaking off into the night. The other day on Rori it got me past three little rabbit critters (starts with a "v" but can't remember the name now) and collected XP from each (they are aggro MOBs). Last night on Tatooine it gathered XP from kreetles.. and then I broke it on purpose by running up to them so I could collect polearm XP. Compared to pre-patch (when it never worked) it seems to be doing as intended... at least IMO.

I am a bothan on bloodfin. Don't knowif this is aBothan bugor just coincidence with the previous poster. When i first started playing about 6 weeks ago maskscent seemed to work and gave me XP. It would break at times but as far as i knew it was working since i gained XP from it. Then a small patch was sent out which I am not sure ofdate. After that patch maskscent always kept me hidden but i never received XP for it. After the big patch last week i have hit rock bottom on maskscent. Maskscent breaks on all ranges of creatures. Swamp cat on rori, grassland slice hound on correllia, spineflap soldier on naboo, crimson razor on correllia, chocu on yavin 4, giant crystal snake on yavin4 (as many as i can think of) all break my maskscent and i have received no scout XP frommaskscent since the big patch. I think this bug is affecting certain individuals and not the scout community as a whole but it does need attention. My scouting levels are 4/4/4/3.

Delta, I just put my findings and stuff on the Bug of Sept update post of yours. But my mask scent is breaking a lot also. I knowI know its not supposed to be 100%. But I'm in group with novice scouts, and me the master, gets his broken and they don't. Kinda makes me usless, when Im leading a hunting party out to hunt for bantha and keeping them safe. They have to risk themselves to rescue me from the creatures agroing on me.
Yes it worked about 99% of the time, between last update and 3 weeks ago update. But the update message says it is supposed to work better then before. I'm finding it breaking as often as it did back in the beginning of SWG, when I was still novice scout. A master with 100 MS bonus should not break that often. And I had a kreetele, light blue con, break it the other night. That should never happen, sorry.
Everytime I have taken a hunting party out in the desert, if someones mask scent breaks, it's mine. Neveer one of the novice scouts. That is a problem.

As a master scout, I have no problem at all with this skill not being foolproof protection from every aggressive creature I run into. I fully expect some creatures to break MS, it's not called "Invisibility" after all. However I do become a tad uneasy when, as I've mentioned in several other posts, the use of MS becomes a liability. The fact that MS not only breaks more easily now than it has for the past few weeks, but also seems to actually cause MOB's to aggro from max distance makes the skill fairly useless for me.
The point you raise is interesting, are all the complaints now due to scouts being "spoiled" over the past several weeks with a MS that never breaks? I have to say, at no time during my career as a scout have I ever been undetectable with MS on. Even after the patch that supposedlyoverpowered the skill, when some claim that a MS'd scout was undetectable by anything, I was having it broken on Dathomir and Endor. The skill was occasionally breaking, the creatures were chasing me down and killing me, and it was fun! Why? Because it felt right! Here I was on one of the toughest planets in the game, testing my skill against some of the meanest creatures in the game...but at least I had a chance.
Several of us went hunting on Dantooine the other night. We ran out to our missions, a combined distance of well over 2600m. I didn't use MS and was not aggro'd a single time. We ran by Voritors at up to 25m and they didn't even twitch. Sitting in camp healing and preparing for the run back, I was complaining about how useless MS is now. My guildmate told me to try it on the run back, as he wanted to observe the new effects. After turning it on, we had moved only about 25m when no less than three Voritors warped directly on top of me. We managed to fight them off, but how silly for a supposedly protective skill to almost become the downfall of an otherwise successful hunt.

That sounds weird to me - perhaps something got inverted. I'll put this to the top of my list.
Can any of the novice Scouts confirm that they aren't having any problems?

I've finally had it working since the last patch. This was mainly against blue or white con mobs but also worked against a couple of red con that were with the lairs.
My stats: 2/2/0/2. Just got Exploration III prior to logging.
