Survival Exp...

I read how to "grind it" .. and the advice to just play and eventually you will get the exp.

Well I tried to grind 20k of it...I got so board and frustrated I logged out and played a differnt charater.

I tried to just play and eventually get the exp....but boy thats SLOW...

One week later and I have 3k.

I know..get friends...team up .. etc etc.

I am on European time... Most people are sleeping when I play.

I was planning on being a Master Ranger...but I will put that off now.

Anyway... Just my view point.

Bash,

Read a book. Read the forums. Do the laundry. Do the dishes. Make dinner. Call your mom.

There are a zillion techniques to make the solo grinding of Survival less painful.

Think outside of the box, bro.

i'm not quite to survival IV yet (about half way) and i've only been doing it for 2-3 days, and not a lot of play time in there. all i do, is go out near a city, solo but with a pet spat, kill things i can handle without getting smashed, and harvest meat for a while. then i'll set up a camp, heal or tend wounds a couple times on my pet and i, make a bunch of traps (the ones that you can use multiple times on the same creatures, glow-wire traps as the moment i think) disband the camp (i usually get about 350 exp) go find some more tiny creatures, throw 20 traps at one, kill it, harvest meat, load up more traps into the tool bar slots and keep killing until i'm out of traps, then set up camp and make more traps again.

i don't have master yet, but it seems to be working ok. the slowest thing i am getting right now is exploration and hunting exp. i imagine that's the last ones i'll need.

not at all proven or scientific, but it works for me, and i don't feel like i'm grinding.

If it was fun, everyone would do it. Scouts and Rangers would be so freaking commonplace that we would all consider becoming hairdressers or something like that.

And, I got my Master Ranger under the old system, 80k camping, not 60k. So be thankful.

If I want to play the game..I want to play. Not turn on the computer and then go to watch a movie.

And yes...you Rangers who did it in the old system are crazy... I think your crazy in the current system.

But just because you did it .. dosent mean I want to.

"I did it the hard way...if you cant hack it...you suck.", posts just make me laugh. Its a game...I want to enjoy it...is that TOO much to ask?

There has to be other options for getting survival exp. Maybe using burth run should give you some Survival exp...you did SURVIVE if you used it.

All I am saying is...20k surival exp is bad at Scout...there is NO WAY I am doing ranger. There has to be some way to make it more interesting and the exp more varied than pop a tent and grind away at traps/tents. Going with friends or big groups for ALOT of us is NOT an option.

As far as EVERYONE being a Ranger if it wasnt hard...I really doubt that. There are alot of professions that are not that difficult to master...and not EVERYONE is say a Swordsman...

Just my two cents...

Bash,

There are plenty of ways to boost your XP. Read my guides and check some of the posts here - you just don't have to sit there if you don't want to.

make some friends and go out on hunts, with a large group your camp xp will max out in a matter of minutes per camp.

a little advice from someone in your same position.

ive been fishing away my survival xp and i find it much faster than sitting in a camp twiddling your thumbs. I get a little over 100xp pet catch and catch one about every 45 seconds. To learn how to do that just read the fishing guide on the sticky section its really helpful.

you could even make a Bio-engineer friend and get about 5 creds PU of fish meat! not bad i say.
