Thread: Can not build by lair

When did this change go in? For the last two days I've been getting message about can't build too close to a lair. This never happened before. Now if it was just 64m, I'd understand. But I walked at least 128m from one lair and still could not build. Another time, there was not a lair in site and I couldn't build because of this message. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah, I've noticed this too, and the same thing has happened to me with no lair being present. I'm not sure when it went in though.

Yes I got it last night. I think it gives you the message even after the lair is destroyed for a while anyway. You also could have inadvertantly moved near another lair without noticing. On Tatooine last night I discovered that there were 3 in close proximity to each other. Gave me fits for a while!!

I'm sure its a bug.. I tried to build near a lair today, wouldn't let me.. Had to run about 100+ m away, and then I was fine.. After I disbanded the camp though, the next time I wanted to heal up, it let me build as close to the lair as I used to before. Weird

Guys,

I don't think this is a bug. I think it's a perfectly good idea.

Why in the hell would you want to stop and throw up a camp within the aggro radius of a lair? Even if its just gnorts, who wants those little buggers hopping around, making that damned noise that causes my trigger finger to itch, nipping at your boots?

Getting out of the area of a lair just makes sense, because we're generally going to do that anyway. If you've just gotten incapped, you aren't just going to plop down next to the creature who nailed you and ask him to massage your feet.

Right?

Please read my original message. I also got the message with no lair any where in a > 100m radius. No visible lair ANYWHERE. It also seems like it's new but was not posted in the release notes. It would be nice to know a change like this is going in. I believe there is a bug with new code they put in. And I believe until the bug is fixed, they should consider taking this code back out. If the code worked correctly I wouldn't have a problem with it.However, I do wish they would tell us in the release notes. AND I wish they would give us an exact definition in meters that we need to be from any lair.

ps. If this change stays in, I'll have to join SAUS. It will then be impossible to set up a camp south of coronet on Flurry. You are ALWAYS within 64m of a building, or lair.

there seems to be a bug restricting campting based on when a lair WAS present. I'll destroy the only lair in site for 128m and then get that message. I wouldn't be surprised if you're in an area where either you, or someone else, just finished one off. If you wait a few minutes, it tends to go away, at least in my experience.

I'm not sure what the minimum distance is.

It's kinda like the run/forage thing and the new issue I've run into where I have to wait longer after combat finishes before harvesting.

Think of it as catching you're breath.

it really is too bad though. I use to get creatures visiting my camps to yell at me. I would pet them and scratch them. I was going to make it a major selling point for the Safari business I was going to run. Ah well.

Thirl,

Oops. Sorry about that.

That does seem to be a bug. /bug it and I'll mention it to the Scout dev.

I agree that it makes since not to allow building camps too close to lairs, but there are times where I build a camp and dispand it then try to build another one for alittle more healing but it says I'm too close and i don't see any new lairs around...not really a big deal but just frustrating.

I just noticed this change Wednesday night. I was working up my unarmed and so I had to do a lot of resting when taking out lairs. I got the message. But was able to setup camp, maybe 20m from the lair no problem.

Remember, if you encounter something that seems it shouldn't be and is likely a bug, /but it. Coming to the boards to ask and discussis fine, but also /bug report it, that's the only way the Dev, only ones who can fix, get to know there is even a problem.

It makes sence to me that you cant camp right next to a lair. But if the system gives you that message when you're far away from any structures, or the lair bas been destoyed for more then a 1 minute, that's buggy code. We should not have to wait more then 1 minute after, if not less, after destroying a lair before we can setup camp. By the time you wait it out, you have half healed all you damage, which takes away from the xp we get for healing in a camp.
