Thread: How to tell if creatures swarm?
Is there an way to tell from examining a creature whether attacking one in a pack will cause others to aggro against me--what I call "swarming?" Does the "ferocity" number say anything about this?
Also, is there a way to tell from examining what the difficulty level of a creature is? I have hunting 4, but nothing in the window I can bring up seems to indicate the difficulty.

Guys,
This is a primary request of the Rangers - being able to tell if a creature is "social" through examine.
Hopefully it will get implemented soon.
B
you shoot at it
If his buddies attack you then the creature swarms
glaza,
i think his point was that he wanted to know if a creature was social 'before' he smacked it so that he did not get smacked as well, but experience is certainly the better teacher as wolf noted.

He asked if the there is a way to tell that creatures Swarm? In game as of right now there is no examine info for baf/social.
So the only way to tell Is trial and error, or go buy a probot.
Well as a Master Ranger and obviously Master Scout, heh, I've always thought ferocity and "social swarming" are linked, but not directly. I'm pretty sure ferocity gauges how "likely" a creature is to spontaniously attack you. Not all "swarming creatures" have high ferocity, but, in general, all high feroccity creatures will swarm.
So, while this won't help you with all creatures, ferocity does give a good clue in relation to its swarming.
No way to tell that I know of, other than experience. Ferocity, I believe, means how long you can shoot it before it realizes you are shooting it and charges you. This is assuming you are prone and it hasn't noticed you already, i.e., the exclamation point or whatever over its head. If you are not proned or it has noticed you, I think it will charge you as soon as you shoot. This is all based on my experience and may not be correct, but I believe it is. Good luck!

Zon,
You're thinking of "Specials". We don't have a way to tell if a creature is social, yet. It's a top priority for the Rangers.
Pen,
Actually, that whole i'm-shooting-but-its-too-dumb-to-notice is a bug, and it's being addressed. If you attack something, it's going to attack you back.
Ferocity determines the radius at which an aggro will start to attack you if you get too close.
