Last night after having been encouraged to throw one of each trap at a critter while in combat to maximize my trapping xp I asked myself, "Why not keep throwin' traps?"
I am cl 21 with Trapping IIIscout skills. I can make8 different types of traps and made2of each. I threw about 80-90 traps total at a level 22 Bigerasat (sp?) on Corellia. I did not attack him, I just threw traps at him. I kept myself healed until I was out of traps then finished him off. I ended up with about 15k trapping xp. Took about 6-10 minutes.
I could have kept this up indefinately. In other words, 15k was not the limit. Occasionally, if I wasn't paying attention to the state indicators under the critter's health bars, I would throw a trap wherein the first of that type hadn't worn off yet. I got a notification that the critter was already affected in that way and the trap was ineffective.

What level was the critter and what level are you?
I was getting about 300xp per successful trap. It seemed like quick easy xp to me. But the only other experience I'd had to compare it to was when I thought you could throw one trap per critter.

I am going to try your suggestion tonight. I have been doing it the hard way by getting about 350-395 trapping exp per. It has taken me about 3 days so far to gethalf way thru trapping 4.

before the CU I got my last 2 boxes of ranger trapping off of 1 rancor. Adhesive mesh, bunch of glow wires, repeat.
Your method would be easier now if adhesive mesh still worked. I'd suggest just keep tossing p-darts now though. I'm pretty sure you get xp continually from them and that way they're always snared.

For the last box of trapping, just craft a truckload of Sonic Pulse and toss away.

I got all of Luck with a max factory run of glow wires and a rancor. Buffed with composite armor and the approriate foods, he couldn't do damage as fast as I healed.

Very nice! I made all 9 traps (Ranger Trap 1) and found a CL43 Piket that was my testbunny. With Insp buffs I was getting 755xp per trap and hit it in a pattern with all 9 until I ran out of traps. Ended up netting around 55K for just that one.
Thanks for the tip!

Today I went out with an inspiration buff and about 5 crates of P-darts. I used an alt of mine(MSwords, 0400 TKA, 4004 Doc, 0304 Fencer) with Imp CoB, and Bacta Infusion running on a looping macro to tank a lvl 82 Dewback. I filled up my tool bar with my P-darts and used a looping macro to throw 60 traps, then refill my tool bar. I ground out the entire trapping row of Ranger(over 1.1million xp) off of one creature. Took about 3 hrs
