Gang,

Since I'll be going to Austin sometime in the next couple of months to meet with the Devs in regards to the Combat Revamp, I would like to go in there prepared with a list of ideas and desires that the Scout community has for us in the revamp.

What kinds of things would you like to see us have in the Revamp?

Here isthe currentlist:

1.) Camps that don't disband when you enter combat;

2.) Master Scouts being able to use specials on mounts;

3.) Change the Creature To-Hit Bonus to include a bonus for melee accuracy in addition to ranged;

4.) Change trap states from dizzy toother states that actually have a negative affect on creatures;

5.) Give campsthe ability to provide a temporary boost to secondaries to increase healing speed on camps;

6.) Allow camps to heal Battle Fatigue;

Not unless this was a Beta thing.

This hasn't been in the game since launch.

But I'll throw it on the list, along with Seiryuu's issue.

Yes please! My vote would be for Battle Fatigue to be healable in camps. Then Scouts who learn even just token Novice Entertainer could be truly totally self-sufficient and would never need to go near a city if they did not wish to... They really could be wild hermits who travel in the wilds for months on end....

I like number 2, a reason for people to get master scout. also the hit bonues would be nice becasue from what i am hearing Rifles are going to get a hit penalty unless they are 'planted'

for the BF healing, no, i dont like that, otherwise why would we have entertainers?

But a no disband in combat would be nice. and healing bonus would be nice too.

i like the idea of traps doing damage as well as effects.

Allowing camps to heal Battle FatIgue could cause a huge downfall for entertainers ... i agree with your list from 1 down to 5 ... but i dislike your idea of healing battle fatigue in camps.

How about camps boosting the regeneration secondaries of pets, faction or creature, so they heal at a respectable rate? The amount could be dependent upon the camp.

It would be a minor boost, but one that actually makes camps useful to a few segments of the population (GCW, mount users, CH) and benefits both Scouts and Rangers. The useage may be somewhat limited right now, but once the revamps tone down the solo-play, this will become more desirable, and the system will already be in place.

Would it be possible that they could put BF healing back in, say if there is an entertainer present at least? Here too, the effectiveness would scale with the complexity of the camp.

Camps could heal BF at the same rate an empty cantina does. Slowly, takes a long time, but it does heal.

The rest of the ideas are fine.

Hi there,

First time I drop in the Scout forum.

I am concerned and surprised with item 2: use specials on mounts at Master Scout level

I am Master CH and without offense it looks more logical to me to have this for Master CH.

I would like to understand:

1. Why do you think this is something the scouts should have?

2. Don't you think that Master CHs should have this ability first?

I am not attacking you guys I was just surprised by this request from you.

Could you explain me or point me to a thread where this is discussed?

Poil,

#2 hasn't been thorougly discussed here, but there is a the general opinion that the PvE professions, namely Scout, Ranger, CH and BE should be given some useful combat related things that make them attractive, both in the GCW and the PvE game. One thing that we talked about was the ability to use our Terrain Negotiation modifier on mounts to increase their speed up and down hills.

#2 came out of a conversation that I had with GreenMarine at Fan Fest, where he told me that when they introduced mounts into the game they had thought about creating a "mounted cavalry" type profession, but nixed it because they didn't want to spend the time on developing a brand new profession out of what was really just one skill. But I think the idea is good.

TH has also told us that he wants to develop new, easy to implement ideas that would make Mastering a skill more attractive. That's why I brought it up.

As to why I didn't suggest this for CHs, well...this is the Scout forum, and I'm the Scout guy. I wasn't thinking about you all. That's Vertexon's job.

And no, I don't think that CH should have this ability first. Here's why. CHs get the ability to use pets in combat as weapons. Therefore - the pet is their primary weapon. Their pistol or gun is secondary. Scouting is a purely non-combat profession, not a hybrid, and we rely solely on our combat skills to take stuff down. So giving us this advantage seems more logical - you guys have more striking powerthan us as a Master Creature Handler, using your pets to tank, than we would kiting a critter around on a mount.

Second, there is nothing precluding a CH from becoming a Master Scout. You can do that, be a Master CH and a Master combat profession and still have 18 skill points left over for something like novice medic.

Third, Scouts - if using the traditional, military definition, have always been mobile forward observers, always mounted. And when you look at the old pioneers that scouted out North America, the one thing they all had in common was a knowledge of the wilderness, uncanny marksmanship abilities and uncanny horsemanship. So this makes sense.

But again, this is just a "wish list". We're just trying to throw up ideas to make the profession better from a combat point of view.

I agree with Delta on the mounted combat bit.

Handling animals (psychology) does not make you a good rider (physical). Scouts are going to be more inclined to have such a skill.

What a creature handler would have over a scout is the ability to train his mount to attack while being ridden.
