Thread: Damage display weirdness??
I was using headshot3 on a Ronto last night and noticed a "-2321" float off the top of the his head. This being the largest number I have ever had float off above a creatures head, I look down in the "Combat" chat window to "confirm" what I saw. In the Combat Window, it says "You use Master Headshot and hit for 1520 points of damage." What happened to the other 800pts of damage that floated above the Ronto's head? Is this a bug with the display of damage? Ormaybe damage"leaking" over to the other pools??
Any thoughts?

The smaller numberis the BASE damage caused by your weapon BEFORE armor differences and other factors are taken into account. It's come up in these forums before and been well explained.
Somebody want to give the gory details again?
Every weapon has a Armour Piercing value, this is matched against the Armour Rating of whatever you are fighting. For every level your weapon's AP is above the targets AR you get a 25% bonus to damage. So if you shoot someone with a AR of 1 and your weapon has a AP of 3 you get a 50% bonus.
If however your weapon has a AP of 0 and you are shooting something with a AR of 1 you get a 50% penalty.
This is why the E11 rifle can have a better Damage Per Second than an DLT20a even though the base stats on the DLT20a seem better.
What you see in the combat window is the damagebefore AP and resistsare taken into account. So you can have a 75% damage incease from a fixed T21 that will not show up in the combat window.
One day someone will have to write a Rifleman FAQ. I would but I want to hit master first. ![]()
