I have a laser rifle and just got rifle 4 skill today. What is a good combo to use besides headshot 1, headshot2? Is mindshot 1 any good, and can I one shot kill with it?

Mindshot is a bleed attack. Useful when you're up against a slightly tougher MOB/NPC and you need that little extra kick to help you out.

Nothing better than seeing a DB'ing mob fall over deadas he is about to walk up to you and smack you as you lie stairing at the stars.

I prefer dancing around them firing warning shots with my CDEF as they bleed

I sit back at between 55 to60m and open with aim, that kicks my to hit up a bit. Then if it's a tough mob, start with mindshot1, then headshot2, headshot1. If they rush me i try to fire off threatenshot to get them to run away. If they do then I might headshot2 again to get them as they are fleeing.

If not I follow routine above but without mindshot1.

I've mentioned this before, but....

Aim is supposed to give you a better chance to hit your target with your next shot. It is not supposed to increase the damage. OK, I believe that. Unfortunately I have seen a disturbing trend in my battles lately. I solo a lot and do the following on MOBs that are much tougher than me...

Laser rifle... 60m... prone... aim... aim... mindshot... etc....

The problem is, when I use the aims, my mindshots seem to hit for REALLY LOW NUMBERS. Have I just been really unlucky... i.e., coincidence?... or is there a bug or unknown effect that is kicking in here? I seem to have better luck with mindshot damage if I don't aim, even though there is supposed to be no relation.

Let me make the point a little clearer...

Approximately 5 times in the past week I've gone prone at 60m and thought "I'll AIM to make sure my first mindshot (mindshot2) hits the target.". Each of those 5 times I hit AIM 2 or 3 times because I read in one of the threadsthat the effect stacks. Each of those 5 times my mindshot2 produced a low hit of around 200-300.

Yes,I do know that AIM is not supposed to affect damage.
And yes, I alsoknow that the Min on the Laser Rifle sucks big time.
But that seems like PRETTY BAD COINCIDENCE to have all 5 or so shots that I intentionallyaimed on hit such low numbers. I didnt do more than that because it appeared to hurt more than help.

My only point is that I'm suspiscious that maybe something else is buggy here... or I'm just incredibly unlucky. I understand about what AIM is supposed to do and how poor the LR minimum is.
I also realize that 5 is a really low sampling. I'll try some more this weekend, but if I see the same thing a high percentage of the time, I'm gonna scream!

The low numbers have nothing to do with aim, and everything to do with the laser rifle.

I'd back this up, that Aim has no effect on damage. From habit I aim before almost every Headshot in PvE (the only time I'm not aiming is if I'm running for my live spamming Suppression Fire with my Spraystick . While doing so, I've seenNO variation in damage fromAiming or not Aiming... with my laser rifle I hit for anywhere from 200 (lame!) to 2000 (yah!) regardless of whether I aim. Laser Rifles have a huge differential between min and max damage, making them fun and powerful but also unreliable (especially since you get, at most, two shots before its time to start running).
