He admitted the Dev team got it wrong, my respect for him went up after that.

Also he has had a hand in making my 2 favorite MMOGs, UO and SWG.

Yep, I don't like level based games.

It's true that he's had a hand in making two of the most advertised and anticipated MMORPGs in history. But why is he acting like a NOOOB ??

saying he had a hand in making UO isnt realy a compliment is it??

from what i hear the only 2 succefull MMPORPG's are EQ and DAoC

Is this coming from a person that only played those?

I hated EQ. It made me physically ill. UO kept me going for years, and completely went to **edit** when Raph left.

Raph did lose a couple notches with me on this rifleman blunder. I cant believe they didnt even look at it before they unnerfed it and I still dont agree that it should have been altered at all. So a rifleman can totally whale on one thing... so? After that first shot its all over if whatever you are shooting at closes with you.

EQ doesn't make you ill per se, it just makes it so you can't sit down with a plastic donut. man I shouldn't have played EQ as long as I did

Umm UO was the first MMORPG that was a major hit if I remember correctly, sure it had problems but to this day it was one of the most fun games I've ever played.

If I remember correctlyUO was EAs biggest profit making PC game until The Sims came along.

I played UO on and off for 4 years, and as the other poster said,the changesgot worse after Holo left.

For someone like me who's played the original Ultima back in the days of the cold war, yeah this UO is pretty good stuff. Doubt Raph has anything to do with it but atleast they got rid of that EA poster with a king guy posing on a throne -- MAN THAT WAS A REAL SELLER !

You played the original Ultimas and you are saying "that king guy"?!? And they had to lose it. When Richard Garriot left Origin (and obviously EA) he retained ownership over the Lord British persona.

Raph's probably the single best mmog developer in the business today. UO is still what I consider the pinnacle of online roleplaying (until DD left, oddly enough), and still boasts subscriber numbers better than most newer mmogs.

While I may agree that the development team as a whole has been on the bumbling side, you can't fault Raph for it. Christ, the guys posts more here than the damned community coordinator! Go look at devtracker. He has more than half the posts on there, and he was the creative LEAD! And now he just got a promotion and posts MORE.

Nice try, but credit goes where it's due, and Raph is due quite a bit of credit.
