Thread: Gimped Bothan Riflemen (New Stat Requirements)
Even as the rifleman class (along with half of the classes in this game) is already gimped (no mind healing for our huge special costs, poor damage per second with the accuracy / fire rate when compared to pistols, huge downtime after fighting, huge melee damage [which isnt that bad, but still]), now soe decides that I have to have 1000 action at the very least just because I'm a Bothan.
Ok, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that I could change the stats to whatever I want, and I do believe that this was clearly stated (pronounced, strongly stressed) many times before the game was even released. Despite this, you'd think with a Bothan's 20+ cover and camo, that they would be ideal snipers with strong minds. This action stuff makes no sense. As a rifleman, I have to use my mind bar more than anything else. keep in mind, there is no way to heal it in battle and the big rifles eat it away so fast you're incapped before anything even has a chance to do it themselves. Now i have 200 more action than i wanted. 200 hp wasted, totally useless. my health bar is going to take a hit just to make my mind back to what it was. ill be walking around with 600 health, it seems.
that's ok, now i can wait 10 minutes for a shuttle, explore the lack of content, or watch the pathetic pvp system from a distance as people kd each other, without my rifle skills. good move, soe. hey, don't homeworld 2 and half life 2 come out soon?

I would like to pipe up on this issue as a Bothan myself. The whole reason I picked the dimunitive Bothan was for their specific mods in cover and camoflage. It does sound like the Bothan, with these mods, would be the ultimate rifleman.
But no, even before this patch, I have so much action and quickness, I don't know what to do with it. My health sucks and mind is just average. Why in the world would Bothan be given these great racial mods for the rifleman profession, but only average mind stats. It really kinda sucks. Health is totaly fubar'd no matter what for us. Action is wonderful, all Bothans should be Carbineers. But mind, especially as a rifleman, leave a lot to be desired.
I don't think they really thought this out very much at all. In fact, I really don't know why anybody would play a Bothan. They just seem to be totally useless as a race in this game. The only reason I am one, is because that is what I picked from the get go with the anticipation that I would be a Rifleman with these great racial mods. Well, it didn't really turn out as planned, and now the only choice would be to re roll on another server. As a Zabrak or Human.

I really hope they fix that, as I too am pretty f'd.
Oh, and Rcuhljr, saying thats why you didn't pick Bothan is a pretty pr1ck thing to say. It's not like you knew that he'd invest all this time becoming Riflemen, adjusting the stats and then one day find out that the whole plan got changed around.
Had I have known that my ham bars couldn't have been moved around (and they said that they could be in the faq and forums, repeatedly), I wouldn't have picked Bothan. I thought that cover and camo would give Bothans a small edge in rifle at the time (although it turns out, both are bugged and useless). They took a complete 180 on this subject 2 months after release once I already have 6 skill boxes of rifleman... **edit** is that?
This was a bug created by yet another hotpatch. The developers discovered that some people were able to migrate stats *higher* than the race's maximums. They "fixed" those characters... but in the processes changed all Bothans to have a minimum action of 1000 (it was nowhere near this before).
Don't worry... they'll be fixing this pronto, as enough people have started complaining. My recommendation: Don't touch your stats... you might make it harder for them to fix (as evidenced by countless tickets ending with, "Well, we could fix that... but then you've already done xyz, so we can't")
This was a bug, they are working on fixing it.. They were trying to "fix" some folks who had migrated their stats beyond the racial max & they borked it.
Should go back to the way it was, if it is not back already.
Man, there have been so many beatings that everything that happens is interpreted as a nerf. Not to say that this isnt a
colossal
forkup.
