Thread: For PvE, how about this template? Doc/CM/Rifleman
People tend to forget the CM's can make poisons for more than just mind. Therefore CM can be a great addition for any group provided you have the inventory space for Health and Action poisons. It takes knowing what your group is capable of. Full of pistoleers? Throw health stuff. Carbineers? Throw action stuff. Etc...As far as specializing in mind dmg for PVE, remember thatsome of the heavier NPC mobs, even faction medic NPC's can heal their Health and Action, but NOT the mind. So that gives you and whatever group you're with another edge. But not mastering Rifleman will make the game so difficult it just won't be fun. Here's what I did before the poison buffing Genoshian Cave Spider Venom came out and it worked well for me. Jennai should be able to confirm this somewhat since I had this template before I decided to go for Master CM and give up Doc entirely for the sake of getting the Master CM badge. She and I duelled in Theed and the template worked well for me.

Now that venom stuff is out, have a Master CM crafter craft poisons and experiment the med use down if need be since the Venom will uber out the dmg. Trust me. Some of the venom I've had put into my stuff is overkill anyways.
Have a Master Doc Crafter make cure poisons/disease who's med use is experimented down to 90 or below. You'll still heal quickly and be able to cure.
Yes, Yes, I know...you lose buff and revive ability. But do you really want Non Master buffs anyways? Especially with so many Master's camping the starport selling buffs? And losing revive isn't as bad as you'd think. I was one of the oldest Master Doc's on Lowca and the reduction of tells still bring a contented sigh to my face!
Plus, knowing you can't rez keeps solo AND group combat more exciting since it adds a whole new twist to the "fight or flight" element of the game. You'll be forced to learn new tactics at a quicker pace!
Keeping in mind that this will require 2 med suppliers and a stash of Venom drops (and a bit of cash or favors
), this will give you a master rifle, powerful CM/Doc dabbler combo that can ravage the mind (or other stats depending on group strengths, stim from 3-30 meters single or area, and cure poison/disease. And as far as group hunting is concerned? NOBODY is better at pulling one mob from a groupof 6 than a CM who throws area stuff. Get a Nyax necklace to boost CM effectiveness by another 5 points and you'll be even better. This template sux if yer a die-hard loner, but if you have friends it's a great balance of PvE AND PvP strengths.
I'll give you an example. I got flagged in Theed helpingfriends and we were sitting a ways from the starport entrance. Master Combat medic comes in and throws area poison on us. I throw my mind poison on him, Jawa Ion Mind Bleed him, Headshot 3 him to incap, Snipershot him, pop a muon, cure myself a couple of times. The BE brandy and 1 Glucose I had already eaten had kept me alive long enough to do my thing and stay alive. Being able to cure allowed me the option to keep fighting. OnceI was cured, I ate another glucose just in case then armored down, and sat back down to regen a bit.
This was my experience. It may not be yours. The tick on the new Venom poisons is an AWESOME thing so if you end up fighting another CM you both may just sit there looking stupid trying to heal yourselves from a 1k tick mind poison for 45 seconds. LOL
